I'm never watching Saturday Night Live again

Posted on 11/20/2004 9:15:24 PM PST by paulsy

I can't believe what I just saw on that show. If you watched it, you know what I'm talking about. The "funhouse" skit...

The original gang was funny. Martin, Akroyd, Murray, Gilda, Belushi, Chevy. That was breakthrough, hilarious stuff. But it died long ago.

Eddie Murphy was the equal of anyone in the original cast. However he was surrounded by lightweights.

SNL waxes and wanes. It still has its moments.

Post 1: my family just watched the whole WWII saga Winds of War and War and Remembrance.

Remember how the persecution of the Jews began with snide public comments, snide cartoons and jokes?

When a few more years pass and someone like Hillary becomes president, many unthinkable things could happen to conservatives.

but conan makes fun of everyone including himself. His jokes about librals are pretty much the same. Heck he even had a whole week devoted to a guy in a gandhi costume making hillary/slick willie jokes after she called him a gas station attendant. :-p

I was going to watch SNL but I realized I had a scheduling conflict. My toenails are now clipped.

SNL died along with John Belushi. It amazes me that they are still on the air.

He saves the mean stuff for Republicans. Case in point, from 2000 (when I vowed never to watch the man again):

I don't remember the context, but he was showing what the candidates were doing. Maybe it was in preparation for the debates. He said, "Al Gore is practicing his tree imitation. Joe Lieberman is home, having sex with his wife. George Bush is snorting cocaine, and Dick Cheney is murdering homeless people so he can steal their hearts." Kind of a lopsided attack, no?

Switch to Mad TV if you like that genre, and want something more "fair and balanced".

They mistake sarcasm and cheap shots for wit and cleverness.

It was just Left-wing cliches-- Republicans hate homosexuals. Republicans are stupid. Republicans are religious nuts. Republicans are sexual prudes. Republicans hate science.

At what point do they stop finding that funny? I mean, if they like those, I've got a few old knock-knock jokes I'd like to rehash.

Comes & goes in cycles. Most recently it was horrible when Colin Quinn was doing the news. Then he got the boot, Jimmy Fallon took over & it got a little better again. Now, since the "rise" of that liberal anything-but-funny beeatch Tina Fey, and the loss of Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon & Chris Kattan, it's back in the sewer again, probably lower than ever. Time to clean house & start over again, or just go off the air.

I saw the opening segment where GWB was supposed to fire one of these 3 - Rice, Powell or Rumsfeld. That skit was insulting enough, so I changed the channel quickly. Glad I did.

So true. A wasted life. A God-given talent destroyed by lack of self-control. A loss for all of us, especially Mr. Belushi..

Why do you think William Safire was on that list? I didn't catch him messin' up.

I have to say I never watched the SNL crew of the 70s...however, I only watched SNL when the following people were on:

Adam Sandler
Chris Farley
Dana Carvey
Will Ferrel
Eddie Murphey
David Spade

I also watched one where Jim Carrey was the host. If he had been a regular, I would've watched it more.

But you know what would be the death of the alphabet networks? This: if FOX News was able to broadcast nationally.

The alphabet liberals would utterly cease to exist.
