I suspect that had it been an option, many of us would have never seen the light of day and the same might have been said of our parents. But then, killing us wasn't an option, and even the worst parents knew that. There was an ethic about raising children then. You made the best of it. Lots of children weren't planned for. I know I wasn't. But most parents at least accepted the responsibility for the life they had created, or gave the children up for adoption. This awful mother of these 4 children I've been talking about said that one of the baby's fathers offered to pay for an abortion but she wouldn't do it because she didn't believe in it. Not believing in killing her children before birth has certainly done nothing for the quality of her parenting since birth though.
