Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hey, you got 3 9's! :)

Yeah, Punisher... looks interesting. I'd probably read it, but not want to watch it - the previews don't quite appeal to me, but it seems a good revenge-story. Just too graphic, in live action.

Green Lantern is way more powerful than Green Arrow. An alien race which guards the universe gave him a ring which is near omnipotent except, um, it doesn't work on anything yellow--small flaw in the design. . .

Rose, here are the posts where Winmag told us about Jerry
676 and
691.

I haven't seen the Punisher previews yet. But yeah, it's a good vigilante story.

And you got a Precious! Go us!Technically, in Gollum grammar, wouldn't that be "uses"? :)

I don't know, we're not psychotic.
Strange aliens, not to notice a flaw like that. But that's a silly superhero origin. I was talking to a friend about superhero origins a few days ago. Why are they all so... melodramatic?

Why are they all so... melodramatic?I dunno, I never thought about it--what are some examples? I guess Batman and Spiderman's are melodramatic, as they involve deaths of relatives--I guess maybe that's to give the hero a motive for fighting crime. But a lot of other superheroes just get their powers from scientific accidents, like Hulk's gamma-ray accident. I guess some are more melodramatic than others. Are Japanese supeherhoes generally melodramatic in origin?
To: Fedora
Well, Superman's the only survivor of his whole planet, right? X-Men have gene power, but it's dramatic because ordinary humans dislike them. Who else... I don't know many superheros, really.
In the Hulk movie, didn't they try to turn it into some dramatic father-son thing? And there was another movie... um... about a blind superhero whose powers were developed as a result of his blindess? Do vampires count as superhero-like? Dying is pretty dramatic.
I have little experience with Japanese superheros. The weirdos in 'Ranma' aren't exactly superheros, they just all fell into various cursed springs (Spring of Drowned Panda, anyone who falls in takes body of panda. Spring of Drowned Girl....) etc.

I thought of Superman, too. In the originals X-Men and Hulk don't have very dramatic origins; the movies kinda added that. The blind superhero was Daredevil--yeah, that involved his father dying, so that was also melodramatic.
I don't think vampires usually count as superheroes, except maybe Hannibal King and Morbius the Living Vampire in his later career.
Um, how come the curse turns the victim into the body of a panda? :)
To: Fedora
It's just how it works. Victim falls into that cursed pool, he's a panda if he gets splashed with cold water (hot water fixes it). It's twisted. The panda bit is hilarious, though, pandas are just such funny critters.
Not as funny, I admit, as poor Ranma, who turns into a girl...
Oh, it really is bedtime. Good night! See you tomorrow, if you're around.

Don't recall any being mounted on cars or trucks. Still it's a good thought.Yeah, I guess it was mostly real big guns on the cars and trucks. Still, it would be nice to have something like that!

Well, I don't go in for junk food, or what I think of as junk food. I keep homemade queso, salsa, guacamole and eat 'em with tortillas or chips. And I keep frozen burritos which you might think of as junk food but for me they're a meal by the time I put chopped up tomatoes and any of those above dips on 'em. LOL
I get sliced turkey and cheese from the deli and eat those too. Not sandwiches just roll up the turkey and cheese and eat.

I am so glad I felt so sorry for her that I volunteered to help her with that 1st communion last year. :-)See! The Lord led you to her when both she and you needed a friend!! I'm glad you're spending Easter with friends!
I decided not to do Easter baskets this year. It's only SSQ, Joseph and me home right now. Clare is in Boston and the boys won't be home til next month. I messed around and didn't send them their Easter goodies yet. I'll do that early next week. We're singing both the 9 and 11 am Masses tomorrow morning, so Joseph and I will make candy tomorrow afternoon after we've had our lunch.
Our water heater cracked and bled out on Thursday. We've been doing sponge baths and having to wash hair in the kitchen sink the last few days. Fortunately we have a YMCA membership, so this evening we went and soaked in the hot tub for a while then took showers. We'd delayed putting a new one in because we were thinking we'd go ahead and switch over to the tankless kind we're going to be using when we remodel, but we realized that's going to require some changing of pipe sizes, etc, so we've decided to replace the old one with something similar, then we'll give it to Habitat or a similar group next year when we get to the point of new water heaters in the remodel.
Have a Blessed Easter, and have a good time at Celia's!

Beaver, kewl. That's one way of controling that rampant tree growth He's gonna be in trouble if he chops down the cherry tree!
BTW, your lillies are up. None of the lillies have sent up flower stalks yet and the deer are already nibbling my daylillies. *Sigh*
To: Sam Cree
Thanks for the B-day wishes. Guess I'm having cake for breakfast tomorrow.
