Not sure the exact info.
But Great Grandpa went out that way for some reason, and not much info is available.
But he suddenly reappears after my grandfather is born shortly before they return to Ohio.
After great-grandpa comes back to Ohio with his missus and children, he begins work in a lime quarry.
(I have a chunk of Flourite from this lime quarry.. It's brown flourite that flouresces white.)

Not sure what my grandfather would have known or seen while out there in Nevada as I do not know how old he was when they left for Ohio.
But I do remember him referring to the place as a pretty much a ghost town and there not being much there 'anymore'.
Now, Tenopah isn't a ghost town, but I'm not sure what he was referring to.

Hey Spook! Way cool about your neighbor. Hope he becomes a FReeper and gets involved with activism - and hangs out with us at Amy's.

Digging through old records could be pretty interesting. But then I like genealogy. :)

Not too long ago
in a public chatroom
I had the misfortune of seeing two left-wing activists
log on and commence discussing their passions

like a bonding session between vultures
they vomited their hatred for the president
and at times this beloved country
all over each other

the stream of neurotic consciousness
like bile and effluvium
poured ceaselessly from them
splattering bystanders and curious passers by

I soon grew tired of this gratuitious display
and promptly departed
before the fumes of their rhetoric
and the obscenity of what I was witnessing
turned my stomach any further

I am told Vultures have a naked neck
Devoid of feathers,
it keeps the bacteria in the putrid carcasses
they feed on
from gaining a foothold and sticking to them
Judging from what I saw these people discuss that night
I can readily believe it

Well, there's info here in our possession that have yet to be collated and sorted.
THEN there's the file cabinets full of paperwork and info that my Grandmother on Dad's side collected throughout her 90 some odd years.
(She passed away in November 2001, after Thanksgiving.)
So there's stuff that may not ever be sorted through.
*chuckle*

Tenabo Nevada.

Trust me to get the place name wrong.
(Pretty darn close to Tenopah..)

40°18'52"N 116°40'33"W 5,164 feet altitude.

Umm.. they were right.
There ISN'T much there.
It really does appear to be a ghost town, in as much as there's LOTS of mine shafts near the place and the recent geological survey is from 1968.
It mentions gold, silver, and other metals.
" C589 Distribution of gold, silver and other metals near Gold Acres and Tenabo, Lander County, Nevada. 1968"

Weird info to digest.

You are very kind. Good evening. Here is a nice one I found by Thomas Hood.

SONG

The stars are with the voyager
Wherever he may sail;
The moon is constant to her time;
The sun will never fail;
But follow, follow round the world,
The green earth and the sea;
So love is with the lover's heart,
Wherever he may be.

Wherever he may be, the stars
Must daily lose their light;
The moon will veil her in the shade;
The sun will set at night.
The sun may set, but constant love
Will shine when he's away;
So that dull night is never night,
And day is brighter day.

p.1827

I'll be reading some news. I've missed my primary source of information. Settling for leftist newsprint is so.......20th century. :-)

Thank you for Vultures, Starfire.

I have not witnessed it live but left-wing activists certainly act the way I would expect a vulture to act.

Thank you for sharing your experience with your poem.

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Good evening, Kudsman.

I don't blame you for getting away from mainstream media to get the news. When we are out of town ..... no computer, no Fox News ....... we feel like we've been on Mars. Or in solitary confinement. LOL

I'll miss you and everyone here.

I hope the TV has an internet connection. They charge big bucks but if they do, I will try to get on to say hi. I won't have any of my graphics or jokes but I guess I'll survive posting without them. LOL

Hope everyone comes by whenever possible next week.

I SAID big bucks ...... not big butts!!!
