2JM: wild or feral hogs' meat can be delicious, though better meat generally comes from the younger ones.
In MO, there is no restriction on hunting them, no season, sort of shoot on sight. But it does help to know if your neighbor has turned some loose to feed on acorns. Good fences make good neighbors. There is a pretty good wild population down by Fort Lost in the Woods.

My friend was invited to a farm up in northern Missouri to hunt wild pigs...I need to ask how that went..

Well, I did about 2/3 of the batch of loin chops last night...I battered them, fried them up in butter just a bit till crispy, then Steve made a gravy and I smothered them in the gravy and cooked them till absolutely tender.
Then I made a spoon bread and some spinach and that's what we had for supper.
It was like a feast! And the chops were very tasty...didn't have a bit of any "off" flavoring...it was very fine pork!
