FairOpinion posted the picture and I went to the URL from which it originated. I didn't say it was from the official Homeland Security site and neither did FairOpinion.

I understand arasina. I did make the mistake and I thought it was dhs until another freeper informed me that it was not. I had to go back and look for myself and sure enough I found out that it was not what I thought it was.

Sorry for the confustion -- and thanks, arasina, for the clarification to others.

I can see how it gets confusing, because the non-government website has a name, which is virtually the same as the official Homeland Security Dept. The NON-official intel analysis site is homelandsecurityus.com (note the ...us.com). I have it saved in my bookmarks, and in my bookmarks, it shows up as "Homelandsecurity.com"

I always give the website, as reference, so if there is a question, just go to the site to find out what it is.

One important thing to watch for is the ending -- as we all know the real government websites all end in .gov

There are other sites, which may use the same name, but end in .com or .net or other things.

E.g. whitehouse.gov is the official White House site, but whitehouse.net is an anti-Bush spoof site, which actually looks like the official White House site and whitehouse.com is a porn site, as I understand (I didn't check it out, last thing I need is to pick up some trojan horse from visiting it).

So -- just to confirm again -- the picture is NOT at the official US HS.GOV website, but at the site of the intel analysts.

Here is their mission statement:

Mission Statement
http://www.homelandsecurityus.com/Mission.htm

This is a special division of Tactical Publications dedicated to the fight against terrorism, developed and maintained as www.HomelandSecurityUS.com, a division of Hagmann Investigative Services, Inc. We are comprised of a small contingent of experienced investigators known as Northeast Intelligence Services founded by veteran private investigator Douglas J. Hagmann.

Until September 11, 2001, individuals and businesses have relied on our government to handle the threat of terrorist attacks. To most of us and with a handful of exceptions, such attacks only happened in other countries and were uncommon within our borders. It is a fair assessment that that our government, law enforcement agencies, businesses and citizens were caught by surprise by the attacks of 9/11. Since then, the general public has been receiving many warnings issued by our government, and everyone seems to be waiting for the next "event" to occur.

While our government has indeed taken aggressive steps to combat terrorist attacks within our borders, what can WE do to assist in those efforts? Do we know who or what to look for? Are we prepared for the next event?

This is an anti-terrorist web site developed in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks on America that will offer practical reference information, vital links, and other valuable information from an investigative perspective. Although we are not related to OR ENDORSED BY any government agency, we will interact with the applicable law enforcement agencies on a regular basis.
