I do agree, this deal needs to be struck down, and hard.
Are you in the cinema biz? I’m skeptical. Product in the movie business is generated by the talent, not the corporate shells that hire the talent. Money flows to where the talent is. For decades, raising money has been so completely about what you now, not who you know, that buying studios is more about getting access to their past content than any real edge in making future product.
Why strike it down...who cares? Last time I went to a theater was probably 15 years ago. The movie was so-so but the rude and crass audience behavior convinced me that the theater business was dying for reasons more than the popularity of streaming. If I want a group viewing experience I can invite over a bunch of friends and have that without being annoyed by the nastiness that pervades our society.
