Multiple deaths reported in crash involving migrant bus in Marion County, Florida Florida bus crash leaves at least eight dead and 45 injured after vehicle carrying 53 migrant workers to watermelon farm overturns
Sometimes compassion is beyond many here. Until they need it.
It looks like an older Thomas Built diesel pusher. I’ve got lots of miles behind the wheel of those but that was 20 years ago.
I thought the same thing. The bus probably doesn’t have an annual DOT inspection and a major component probably broke.
I’m taking the 5th.
We have always relied on (legitimate) migrant laborers in our fields. You’re thinking of illegal immigrants, which the government now calls “migrants” (they’re not) in an attempt to cover up and confuse the American people.
We could have had a better legal migrant laborer plan, but the labor unions opposed it. Not that any of them work in the fields…but the AFL CIO and even the UAW fought against expanding the program, thus virtually forcing farmers to hire illegals.
Florida has very strict requirements in vetting the status of employees, however, so these unfortunate souls were probably legal (and in fact some may actually have been Americans hired through day labor companies.).
But the true migrant laborers are hardworking, and they go back to their home countries when their contract is up and return again next year.
Huh?
If they are illegals, they have no right to work in the US.
Do they pay taxes?
They need to go back home and apply for a visa to enter the US legally.
Nice slap in the face to the honest, law abiding immigrants.
IF they're illegal, do you have any idea what this will cost Florida/American tax payers? That many injured you're talking many million$. All these questions...Was the bus insured, were all the victims here illegally? Did the employer carry Workers Compensation for all of them?
Who's going to pay these millions to care for them?
Silence....
Same old story when the American tax payers are stuck with all the bills.
6 months my azz....They're lying...They're are witnesses and physical evidence. They already know what happened.
One of the vehicles crossed the center line and entered the opposing lane. Some reports indicate the bus crossed into the opposing lane, struck or sideswiped the pickup and lost control.
Six months is a flat out lie.
We have always relied on (legitimate) migrant laborers in our fields

I hardly think slaves were legitimate. A great historian I read said that all great civilizations import their lower class workers.
Which always leads to the downfall of that great civilization
Was Mo-ham-head driving?
That is an incredible statement! How could he possibly know all this so soon after the collision?
Not really new, Woody and Joni covered this already
The sky-plane caught fire, over Los Gatos Canyon
A big ball of fire, it shook all the ground
Who are these friends, who are falling like dry leaves
The radio said they were just deportees
...
But we died in your hills, we died in your valleys
We died in your orchards, we died on your plains
We died on your deserts, we died in your treetops
Both sides of the river we died just the same
Wisely.
Agree, it's profits regardless of consequences that has left America all but dead on the floor. Thousands of these corrupt business owners don't give two sh*ts about this country.
Migrants or Illegal Immigrants?
That was the Eisenhower plan. I think it’s long gone.
“ How could he possibly know all this so soon after the collision?”
Perhaps the farm that employed them is known to employ legal workers. It is a very sad time for all who lost their lives and for those who grieve them
I see, the driver of the bus said they’re all legal and they’re all hard workers. Got it!
