My CPA and I had a discussion about the US government essentially going bankrupt, about 10 years ago.
As long as there is no insistence that the debt get paid down and that there be no more money added to the debt, the deficit spending and the debt will continue to rise forever.
Tee debt could reach q quadrillion dollars, and he federal government will continue to run. Bankruptcy is out of the question. And that is why nobody cares about how high the debt goes. Democrats don't care and republicans just look the other way. If I had a bottomless credit card and didn't have to pay any of it back, I'd be spending like there's no tomorrow.
