DeSantis Is So Gonna Ride His Bicycle in Slow Circles at End of Republican Delegation Driveway if They Don’t Stop Endorsing Trump

The downward spiral has reached critical mass. Following the Trump endorsement by Florida Congressman Byron Douglas [See Here], Team Meatball is triggered. Ron DeSantis has begun calling Florida Republican congressional reps, begging them not to endorse President Trump.

You can almost see the cheese arriving to complement the whine.

alt

(Via NBC) Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political operation has started calling Republican members of the Florida congressional delegation in an effort to consolidate support after four members publicly backed Donald Trump in his 2024 presidential bid.

Sources with four of the six members contacted by DeSantis’ team shared the outreach with NBC News; each requested anonymity to confirm the calls.

As Trump continues to lead in the polls for the GOP presidential nomination, the governor is trying to stop defections in his own backyard ahead of his expected run. DeSantis currently has no endorsements from the state delegation.

The efforts by the governor’s team started after Trump picked up the backing of Rep. Byron Donalds, who has been a DeSantis ally. The earlier three endorsements were from Reps. Anna Paulina Luna, Matt Gaetz and Cory Mills, who are vocal Trump boosters and whose support wasn’t surprising.

Since Donalds came out for Trump, DeSantis’ team has called at least six members of Florida’s congressional delegation, asking that they hold off on making any endorsements in the near future. The members called by DeSantis’ team are: Reps. Aaron Bean, Vern Buchanan, Kat Cammack, Mario Diaz-Balart, Laurel Lee and Greg Steube.

Ryan Tyson, a longtime GOP pollster and mainstay in DeSantis’ political orbit, has led the effort. Tyson has initiated the calls, reaching out to schedule a later call between the member of Congress and DeSantis himself.

“There is clearly some angst from the DeSantis camp that so many members of the state’s congressional delegation are throwing their support behind Trump,” said a GOP consultant for one of the members contacted by the governor’s team. “Gaetz going with Trump is one thing, but Byron’s endorsement of the former president undoubtedly rattled some cages.” (read more)

altDeSantis currently has NO ENDORSEMENTS from the Florida delegation“…. Readers, if you are a registered voter in Florida, you know what to do. Call your congressman or congresswoman and tell them your expectation, in advance of DeSantis calling them and asking for an endorsement.

Let the GOP representatives know your expectation, while simultaneously delivering a death blow to the influence of Wall Street, multinational corporations, billionaire influence peddlers and the professional political class. They have dumped $500+ million into DeSantis… Make it worthless!

DeSantis ran to be governor of Florida. Make him live up to that expectation.

“There is only one leader at this time in our nation’s history who can seize this moment and deliver what we need – to get us back on track, provide strength and resolve, and Make America Great Again. That is why I am honored to endorse President Donald J. Trump for President in 2024, and I ask my fellow Americans to join me today.” ~ Byron Donalds

He needs another 4 years in the minors. Just not ready and the math says he *cannot beat Trump.

The problem is that Trump can't beat Biden, but apparently the MAGA base doesn't care about winning. I have yet to hear any strategy on how Trump plans to win swing states, and I wish he would stop flat-out lying about Desantis's record. It's so insulting.

Let’s just trash all republicans that aren’t Trump so that nobody will ever win again. There’s no room for discussion or alternate ideas here at FR anymore and I’ve been here for over 20 years. There’s certainly no room for any though about political reality. People here may love Trump but wide swaths of America - including a lot of voting Republicans - don’t. The slavish loyalty will only get us another Dem president for years to come. The politics of personal destruction within our own party must stop.

‘Ron DeSantis is not part of the plan for the final takedown of the deep state which is currently underway.’

takedown, eh...? get back to us whenever that happens...

Some of the posts here look like the seminar posters of any tweet thread on twitter.

Trump 2024. DeSantis 2028. (Gee, I hope the anti-RDS posters her don't object to this)

‘We can do it the easy way through the ballot box OR....’

or what...? all that has to happen is for Joe Biden to remain upright until November 2024 and he will win the presidency...

Ann Coulter was spot on with this, much as you people don’t want to believe it...

Trump will be the nominee - just stsrt there. For *no other reason* than nobody esle will overcome his numbers/voting base.

Other candidates can jockey around, go eat corn dogs in Iowa, kiss donor’s asses.... whatever. A waste of time and money - none will likely even get a VP spot.

Did he ever even announce his candidacy? This obsession with bashing Desantis is strange to me. People on FR attack him more than the Democrats by 10 fold. Weird. Some people have TDS, and now apparently some people have DDS.

DDS is shorthand for dentistry.

So I understand if people hate DDS.

I love DeSantis as my governor

He needs another 4 years in the minors. Just not ready and the math says he *cannot beat Trump.

If DeSantis keeps it up, he will be soon labeled as a corrupt RINO idiot. It may be a plan to expose the RINO's/DEEP STATE players but I'm NOT amused.

I voted for DeSantis as governor, but he is now suspect by me as a potential sellout. I would never vote for DeSantis against President Trump.

The military and large consumer industrial tech companies are all aligned with the government and deep state influence.

But they cant beat back 100 million maga voters.

Let’s get it done.

Exactly, we all love Trump, but if he couldn’t beat the fraud when he was freaking president, how will he do it this time? I hate to think it’s just am ego trip for him but can’t he at least hire someone or do something to show he learned his lesson? Telling ourselves that dems are SOOOO afraid of him winning and thus the indictments is simply childish, they have stolen 3 elections in a row now. They want Trump cause they know it will be a pushover to do it again.Desantis is more of a challenge simply cause he isn’t Trump

I sure hope Desantis is smarter than this.

He is currently the heir aparent to the maga movement after Trump is done.

But you dont go after the king unless you can be assured to take his head.

Ronny is risking much if chooses to challenge Trump.

If he does, he is an idiot and deserves the fall that will beset him

“I love DeSantis as my governor and he’d be an amazing president, but he just SUCKS at campaigning... so bad...He needs another 4 years in the minors. Just not ready and the math says he *cannot beat Trump.”

I get the impression that he’s being pushed very hard (by the NeverTrumper bunch), and would rather not try moving up the political ladder this fast. After all, he’s 44 years old. I base this on his first campaign, where one account that I read said he wasn’t even up to speed on state issues - not a good look for someone running for governor. And then Trump needed to drag him over the finish line. And even with that, he barely won, very barely.

In this year, his flip on Ukraine showed me, at least, that he hadn’t given it much thought and would rather not have to worry about it - so he called it a ‘territorial dispute’. And while that’s the correct position, he obviously didn’t get clearance to state that, was unable to make his case to his handlers, so had to flip. In the case of the Trump indictment, it was a long statement and almost certainly written by others, at least some of who are rabid NeverTrumpers (no offense at DeSantis, as it’s not his job to know the details of that crap), so they (the handlers) simply could not control getting a jab in at Trump...and so they did, and so it backfired.

Best option now is to make up with Trump and look for either a VP slot or staying in Florida, as either is FAR BETTER than simply losing, either in the Primary or in the General Election (when many of the Trump voters simply don’t pull the lever for him).
