A courageous archbishop finally takes on Nancy Pelosi

There are two things Nancy Pelosi has loudly and proudly boasted about for decades: Her absolute support for abortion and her staunch Catholicism. Of course, those two things are inconsistent because, even under the progressive Pope Francis, abortion remains anathema to the Church. With that in mind, it’s good news that, on Friday, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone had the courage to announce that, until Pelosi repudiates her support for abortion, she should not be admitted to Holy Communion in her home base of San Francisco nor should she present herself to receive the Eucharist.

Nancy Pelosi is not just a lukewarm abortion supporter. In 2013, Pelosi opposed a bill banning late-term abortions with the jaw-dropping statement, “As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me.... This shouldn’t have anything to do with politics.” She’s also claimed that videos showing trafficking in fetal body parts are fake, that unborn babies aren’t human, that pro-lifers are plagued by “this conscience thing,” and that the Church has no idea when life begins.

All of that makes for an interesting stance for a “practicing and respectful Catholic” to take. Pope Francis, who assumed that office in 2013, the same year Pelosi linked Catholicism and abortion, has been remarkably clear that abortion is an untouchable third rail, one as to which he will not show any flexibility. Over the years, Pope Francis has stated that “Abortion is murder,” likened abortion to “hir[ing] a hitman” in order to solve a problem,” called aborting disabled children a Nazi practice, informed physicians that abortion is “against the Hippocratic oath” and “is an evil in and of itself,” and said that abortion is “incompatible” with our obligation to respect the environment and creation.

I, for one, am glad she is finally being called out on this.

She will present herself because scripture calls for a desecration of the temple.

Unfortunately, she doesn’t love her God or church enough to view this as a nudge to change her views to a biblical one. She will view this as a challenge to defy the catholic church. She has said in the past that she personally does not approve of abortion but she thinks a woman should have the right to choose it if she wants to. But ultimately the fate of the innocent baby is not something she cares about.

She’s an insurance policy Catholic which does not interfere with her love for killing babies.

Irrelevant, means nothing to her and nothing will change.

Irrelevant
It's very relevant. She will be forced to respond and either obey (unlikely) or double-down, which will more surely grease the skids on her way to hell. Also, it is a prime time for other Catholic bishops and politicians to take notice and either create some momentum on this, or fail the testosterone test.

means nothing to her
In that it will immediately change her heart about abortion, probably not. She'll probably flip out some inane protest, shop for a priest to give her communion, and keep following the money trail killing babies.

and nothing will change
That remains to be seen.

I’m in SF, but I don’t go to her parish. It will be interesting to see if she turns up in a communion line and is rebuffed. It may happen, and there will be witnesses if it does. By the way, the priest quoted in the piece as having called her a “fine woman” in 2007 has gone on to his eternal reward. Kyrie eleison.

I've seen questions about the breadth of Archbishop Cordeleone's decision and the meaning of Archbishop.

It's covered well in this article:

Archbishop Cordeleone isn't doing this to finally get on board after decades of supporting Democrat politicians who call themselves Catholic while promoting the murder of children. He's doing this as part of a coordinated effort with Democrats to stir people up against the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Right on cue, the idiot, and other fake Catholic, Alexandria Occasional Cortex posts an hour-long spiel on Instagram, mocking Christians for opposing murder, actually saying other religions don’t believe a baby in the womb is life.

The Democrats want another pre-election summer of riots and protests. The COVID-1984 lies have been exposed, Ukraine became a non-issue as European countries circumvented the embargoes on Russia, and few trust anything from the government or pharmaceutical korporations about monkeypox.

Why didn't Archbishop Cordeleone do this a month ago? six months ago? six years ago? Where are the others?

Why haven't Nancy Pelosi, and other false Catholic politicians like her, been thrown out of the Catholic Church decades ago?

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, I’m very glad you had the gonads to call Pelosi on this. My only question is what took you so long? I just heard on Fox News that you and Pelosi have been going back and forth on this for 10 years.

IMHO, Pelosi is a big time sinner and she’s going to Hell.
