By December of 2001 it was clear that bin Laden had not been eliminated, and that the Taliban—though kicked out of power—were not extinguished and for the next two decades would continue fighting. During the final days of the Tora Bora battle, the George W. Bush administration made critical misjudgments, especially the decision not to use U.S. military assets to seal the border with Pakistan, relying instead on airstrikes, Afghan militia, and Pakistan’s Frontier Corps forces to block the mountain passes. This decision allowed Bin Laden and his bodyguards to walk unmolested out of Tora Bora into Pakistan’s unregulated tribal area.

Nation Building!
We need a new country now more than ever.
When you saw those public statements by that loser GWB over the last few months lamenting the fact that “girls in Afghanistan won’t be able to go to school anymore” if the Taliban toppled the U.S.-backed government, you knew we are living in a country run by retarded baboons.

STAY OUT DA BUSHES!
The Dept. of Homeland Security will last forever.
The only thing that is forever is God’s love. Mankind can’t fix this chit.
Nobody since Alexander the Great has been successful in Afghanistan. We’re no different.
Yeppers. First of all there is no country just tribalism.
Alright AC, now every time I run across a retarded baboon I’m going to remember your comment.
I've never regretted my vote more. Sure, I voted for McCain and Romney but at least those guys had the decency to lose.
GWB
Do you think Al Gore or John Kerry would have been better?
We took over the Taliban using Northern Alliance troupes, to which we provided aerial support and supplied arms and resources. As a matter of fact mostly captured Soviet arms the Afghani were more comfortable with.
That took pretty short time.
However - almost instantly we blew it.
Micromanagement from Washington let Bin Laden and Mullah Omar escape.
We instantly released defeated Taliban troupes and even most of the leaders were quickly let go from Guantanamo. Most of them rejoined the fight. There were almost instantly calls against mistreatment of Taliban and against US and Northern Alliance.
We basically betrayed the Northern Alliance (alliance of all Afghan minorities, including Tajik, Uzbek and Hazara) which together makes majority in Afghanistan. Instead, we pushed NATION BUILDING by preferring Pashtun government, hostile to Northern Alliance.
The rules of engagement on our troupes in Afghanistan were ridiculous. Our men were basically allowed to shoot only if shot at!
In my opinion, we should put Northern Alliance people in full charge of Afghanistan, and let them take care about the Taliban, their way! I think we could be out of there in few months! Yes, there would be some killing and abuse then, but by now, all would be clean and cozy!
Both of them would have hastened the process.
That said, Bush2 did a crappy job of selling the idea of a “neutral” Afghan to citizenry. DJTrump had a deal with Taliban, which BeijingBiden killed because the CCP told him to do so — they will move into Afghan and ally with Taliban.
Like with Vietnam, we had a deal, could have enforced it; but the new regime could not accept a left-over success from previous. Why? Because new regime got into power only by demonizing the previous. ONLY
we did not convert the muhammadums to Christianity
Why America Was Destined To Fail In Afghanistan:
Islam.
We'll never know.
At least Democrat presidents do the stuff that the people who voted for them wanted them to do, unlike Republican presidents who just seem to screw us.
Incorrect. The new regime got in because of massive fraud.
the only way to stop a group like the taliban is the kill everyone of them....each and every one of them.
