Police just released bodycam footage of the Daunte Wright shooting. The cop thought she was firing her Taser, not her gun.
Police have released bodycam footage of the shooting of Daunte Wright -- AKA the young man who was killed by police and who protesters are currently using the latest excuse to riot and loot.
The officer thought she had pulled her Taser. Not her gun. She thought she was tasing him, not shooting him. Watch for yourself [Warning: Graphic]:

She clearly yelled "I'll tase you!" and "Taser! Taser! Taser!" and was clearly shocked when she realized she just shot the guy.
But the thing is, since they've driven away manly men from wanting to be cops, this is what they're stuck with. And to be clear, I am mainly talking about Big City Police Departments. My understanding is that there is a lot of competition to be a cop in the nicer suburban areas, that's not where the problems are.
Maybe we need more female police officers?
Maybe we need a quota system for criminals—50% of them must be petite women.
This is another reason I think tasers are stupid
God forbid he followed the directions of the police officers and did not try to flee.
Might be nice if they redesigned the Taser so it didn’t operate like a firearm.
Maybe instead of a trigger a button on the back of the Taser?
It’s going to be another long year. The White left elites are loving every moment of this! Now they have another police shooting to rile up their troops for another round of mayhem across America!

Such is life in this country these days.
I saw a comment earlier today that Minneapolis (unsurprisingly) has had a lot of police officers quit and that they can’t replace them fast enough with qualified officers. They are pulling people out of desk jobs and putting them on the street. Other accounts have said that the woman who shot the young man was a veteran with many years of service. It had me thinking perhaps she is one of those people pulled out of a desk job. She certainly sounded rattled and panicked. Bad situation; timing couldn’t be much worse.
I never said a word about how long she’d been employed.
Seems like that would be wise. Thumb activated button instead of a trigger.
A cop on duty should never face consequences greater than loosing their job, IMHO. Same with military.
Reflex training, acting without thinking.
At 5’7” and, in shape, 145 lbs, I’d have no business being a cop. Certainly not now I’m in my 60s, but back when I was 20? Nope.
But at least back then, I’d have had a baton. And maybe a blackjack (sap) - although those were starting to go out of style. But someone with a sap could have put this guy on the ground even as he tried to get back into the car. MAYBE with a broken bone. But he’d be alive.
Of course, he’d also be alive if he hadn’t gone back into the car. And someone is less likely to try when there is a 6’ dude with muscles and a baton ready to make his life suck really bad if he tries!
But now we live in a day of enlightened policing, and saps and batons give way to tasers that often don’t work wielded by small cops (Chauvin) or lightly built women.
By the picture, white cop. Supervisory position.

She’ll get the pussy pass. Light sentence at most. A white male cop would get far worse.
The cops need better training. The Hispanic guy that shot the black passenger in a Minneapolis suburb a few years ago - same problem - poor training or poor recognition skills.
That officer should have never been a policeman and, if these events are true, neither should this female officer. Where is your equality b.s when some chick’s poor police work causes your city to riot?
Ironically, if Derek Chauvin had been the officer, young Daunte might still be alive.
