GPs to prescribe DIETS for more than 700,000 people after report finds nine out of ten global Covid deaths happened in countries with high obesity rates

GPs will prescribe more than 700,000 people diet plans, apps and wearable activity trackers in a Government anti-obesity drive.

Ministers said they are committed to slimming the country's waistlines, after an alarming study revealed a high obesity rate was partly to blame for Britain's devastating coronavirus death toll.

World Obesity Federation research found Covid deaths have been 10 times higher in countries where at least half of adults are overweight, and they have accounted for a staggering 90 per cent of global deaths.

Thousands of lives may have been saved if the population was slimmer, experts said, and lockdown measures may not have needed to be as drastic if people were not as fat and had a lower risk of ending up in hospital.

The World Health Organization warned the findings were a 'wake-up call' for the West, where sedentary jobs and processed foods mean being overweight has become the norm for many....

Very early in this pandemic, Dr. Birx, at one of the White House Task Force press conferences, named obesity as one of the major comorbidities involved with deaths from COVID-19. She must’ve been told to stop talking about obesity because she never mentioned it again, at least not that I heard.

Anyone who looked at the data noticed that in countries where the people are not obese, there were far fewer deaths from coronavirus then in places like the United States. We are the most obese country in the world except for 11 islands whose total population is less than 1 million.

President Trump said, many months ago, that the cure could not be worse than the disease. Well, it has turned out to be exactly that.

The relationship between obesity and cognitive health and decline
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 11 September 2017

Abstract: The relationship between obesity and cognitive impairment is important given the globally ageing population in whom cognitive decline and neurodegenerative disorders will carry grave individual, societal and financial burdens.

This review examines the evidence for the link between obesity and cognitive function in terms of both the immediate effects on cognitive performance, and effects on the trajectory of cognitive ageing and likelihood of dementia.

In mid-life, there is a strong association between obesity and impaired cognitive function.

Anthropometric measures of obesity are also associated with reduced neural integrity (e.g. grey and white matter atrophy). Increasing age coupled with the negative metabolic consequences of obesity (e.g. type 2 diabetes mellitus) are likely to significantly contribute to cognitive decline and incidence of dementia.

Stress is identified as a potential risk factor promoting abdominal obesity and contributing to impaired cognitive function.

However, the potentially protective effects of obesity against cognitive decline in older age require further examination. Finally, surgical and whole diet interventions, which address obesity may improve cognitive capacity and confer some protection against later cognitive decline.

In conclusion, obesity and its comorbidities are associated with impaired cognitive performance, accelerated cognitive decline and neurodegenerative pathologies such as dementia in later life. Interventions targeting mid-life obesity may prove beneficial in reducing the cognitive risks associated with obesity.

Dr Ivette Lozano MD (Texas hero) made a stink about Hydroxychloroquine prescriptions not being filled by pharmacies, and by her actions caused embarrassment to the Texas Pharmacy Board when their actions were brought to light by State Senator Bob Hall (another Texas hero). Following the Senator’s intervention, the policy was reversed pretty much overnight, which begs the question...if the policy was based on real science, why did the Pharmacy board reverse it simply because it was exposed?

Lozano linked obesity with negative cv19 outcomes, and encouraged her patients to lose weight. I saw her interviewed a few months ago by Texans for Vaccine Choice, and at that time she said that she lost about 40 lbs in 6 months as an example for her patients. Real leadership by a real medical doctor.
