Donald Trump Jr. was deposed earlier this month by Washington, D.C. attorney general Karl Racine in a probe of former President Trump’s inaugural committee, a court filing indicates.
Racine is spearheading a probe into the alleged misuse of inaugural funds involving a payment made by the Trump Organization to a D.C. hotel for nearly $50,000 in 2017, the week of the inauguration.
Trump Jr., a Trump Organization executive, in the deposition, stated he did not authorize spending $50,000 from his father’s inaugural committee on hotel rooms for his friends.
Racine has sued the organization and Trump’s D.C. hotel over misuse of inaugural funds.

From what I’ve heard, he’s still involved in China finances (benefitting him), and has not given that up. He also have some low- or mid-level US government thing going on. But I’m not sure about that last part.

The reason Anthony Weiner ran for Mayor of New York was he had a million and a half campaign dollars to spend. My understanding of the law is, he could have bought a building for his campaign headquarters and then sold it later and kept the proceeds. The kaw was written by crooks, for crooks. Though they may find something to slam Trump with, it most likely will not be illegal. I wish this would stop. But the purpose is to continually drag Trump down so that be dies from a thousand tiny cuts. It’s called lawfare.
To clarify: there used to be an appointed senior legal attorney for the Federal District of Columbia (which is NOT a State nor can ever be one, Constitutionally, and is a Federal District that is managed by a committee of Congress who set up elected positions within D.C. answerable to them.)
The position of Attorney for District of Columbia was formerly called Corporation Counsel for District of Columbia (in 1905). It is a JUMPED UP title having little power as obviously constrained within the limits of District of Columbia and having no legal authority over- embassys located there, federal buildings there and offices there. Not much jurisdiction.
So who is this guy? and what legal authority?: Previously appointed by the Mayor, District of Columbia voters approved a charter amendment in 2010 which made the office of Attorney General an elected position beginning in 2015.

It is not “independent” -— it is described in detail in the Constitution. It is dependent on the management of Congress.
