Saturday News Roundup: Musk Makes a Big Bet, Cheney Draws a Challenge and Schumer’s Freudian Slip

RIP, Hank Aaron. – Hammerin’ Hank, or as Sandy Koufax called him, Bad Henry, passed away on Friday at the age of 86. Koufax and many other pitchers of his day thought Aaron was the most dangerous hitter they faced, which is saying a lot since his contemporaries included the likes of Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Frank Robinson and so many more.

The news media is reluctant to report this (the news can only be found at secondary outlets like the one linked here), but Aaron was in good health two weeks ago, when he took one of the COVID-19 vaccines to set an example and encourage the Black community to follow his lead. That may or may not have had anything to do with the death of this elderly man, but it certainly is not something that should be a part of yet another corrupt news media coverup.

RIP, Mr. Aaron.

Was that a slip of the tongue, Senator, or do you know something the rest of us don’t? – Chuck Schumer really, truly did say this on the floor of the U.S. Senate yesterday:

Sure would like to take a look at his computer browsing history, huh?

From a story at The New York Post:

This going to be hard to live down.

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer got a rise out of lawmakers on the Senate floor Friday when he fumbled his words and said that they will have to decide if former President Donald Trump incited the “erection” against the US.

“Make no mistake, there will be a trial and when that trial ends, senators will have to decide if they believe Donald John Trump incited the erection against the United States,” Schumer said.

Noticing his boneheaded slip-up, he corrected himself and said “insurrection,” but that didn’t stop online wags from roasting him.

“Well, sometimes insurrection is a HARD word to pronounce,” one Twitter user wrote.

“I regret the image this conjured in my mind. Yuck,” another wrote.

Chuck Schumer's major slip of the tongue on January 22, 2021 had Twitter roasting the Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s major slip of the tongue on January 22, 2021, had Twitter roasting the Senate majority leader. EPA/SHAWN THEW “Damn. That will be hard to live down,” yet another said.

And one added: “Hardest stance Schumer ever took.”

[End]

That’s some funny stuff right there.

Man, nobody could’ve seen this one coming. Oh, wait… – To literally no one’s surprise, Wyoming turncoat Rep. Liz Cheney got herself a primary challenger yesterday, just days after voting to impeach President Donald Trump:

From the story at JustTheNews.com:

Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, a member of House Republican leadership, has drawn a primary challenge just one week after voting to impeach then-President Trump.

State GOP Sen. Anthony Bouchard announced his campaign against Cheney on Wednesday, pointing to Trump’s strong voter support in the state and Cheney’s “long-time opposition” to Trump.

Bouchard also said the impeachment vote by Cheney, the House’s third-highest-ranking Republican, shows “just how out-of-touch she is with Wyoming.”

“Wyoming taxpayers need a voice in Congress who will stand up to Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats, and not give them cover. That’s why I’m running for Congress,” Bouchard said in a widely reported statement announcing his campaign.

The state Republican Party also disagrees with the impeachment vote by Cheney, one of 10 House Republicans who cast a yes vote.

“The wind in Wyoming has been horrendous today – with gusts up to 65 miles per hour,” the group said in a Jan. 13 statement. “That is nothing compared to the whirlwind created by Representative Cheney’s announcement that she would be voting to impeach President Trump, and her subsequent follow-through of doing just that.”

[End]

Despite all of this pushback from her home state of Wyoming, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy continues to refuse to pull Cheney from her leadership position as Chair of the House Republican Conference. Which also should come as no surprise at all. This is just how the DC Swamp UniParty consolidates power. McCarthy and Cheney are just playing the waiting game, hoping that over time Wyoming Republicans will just forgive and forget.

I know a lot of Wyoming Republicans, and I really don’t think they should be counting on that happening. We’ll see.

China Joe Potato Head Biden has another Sock Puppet Moment. – Watch and listen here as China Joe once again says the quiet part out loud:

You could never in a million years make this stuff up, folks. Don’t even try.

Here is what sets Elon Musk apart from the shrieking alarmists in the leftist environmental movement. – Doing stuff. Real stuff. That’s what sets Tesla founder Elon Musk apart from the climate change alarmist community.

Yesterday, Musk volunteered to put up $100 million of his own personal fortune as a reward for the development of the most effective technology to create a leap forward in the realm of carbon capture and storage (CCS). If it can become economic, CCS is that rarity in the largely fantasy-based climate change arena – an approach that might actually work in the real world.

From a report from Reuters:

(Reuters) – Tesla Inc chief and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk on Thursday took to Twitter to promise a $100 million prize for development of the “best” technology to capture carbon dioxide emissions.

Capturing planet-warming emissions is becoming a critical part of many plans to keep climate change in check, but very little progress has been made on the technology to date, with efforts focused on cutting emissions rather than taking carbon out of the air.

The International Energy Agency said late last year that a sharp rise in the deployment of carbon capture technology was needed if countries are to meet net-zero emissions targets.

“Am donating $100M towards a prize for best carbon capture technology,” Musk wrote in a tweet, followed by a second tweet that promised “Details next week.”

Newly-sworn-in U.S. President Joe Biden has pledged to accelerate the development of carbon capture technology as part of his sweeping plan to tackle climate change. On Thursday, he named Jennifer Wilcox, an expert in carbon removal technologies, as the principal deputy assistant secretary for fossil energy at the U.S. Department of Energy.

[End]

If CCS can be developed to become economically feasible in the real world, the U.S. currently possesses enough potential underground storage capacity to safely store all of its carbon dioxide output for the next 30 or so years. Much of that capacity exists in depleted oil and natural gas reservoirs in Texas and other petroleum-producing states.

Rather than just sitting on the sidelines and preaching the religious dogma of the Global Church of Climate Change, Elon Musk is putting up real money to try to jump-start this area of great promise. You can bet Musk’s approach will be far cheaper and vastly more productive than anything the Department of Energy under Biden does over the next four years.

Over the past few years, Musk has moved much of his business operations and his personal residence from California to Texas. This is just one more reason why we Texans are happy to welcome him to the Lone Star State.

That is all.

The insurrection didn’t last four hours, so no problem.

How about a simple, honest, public debate about man made global warming?

Yes, debate would be good. Debate about how the planets are controlled by the sun? Debate about how the sun controls the climate of all its planets? Debate about how man can control the science of our solar system?

The erection, of course, was all on the part of the Congressional democrats who stood at attention when Antifa and BLM invaded their hallowed sanctuary. Finally, they had their nemesis, President Trump, just where they wanted him, with his Alpha dignity hanging out for all to see.

RE: CCS

Watch for unintended consequences, idiots. Capture too much carbon dioxide and plants start dying from lack thereof.

When plants start dying, there will be oxygen depletion, and animals will start dying - including humans.

DUH!

a $100 million prize for development of the “best” technology to capture carbon dioxide emissions.

That's easy. Cut down trees and plant grass. Lots of grassland. I'll take my 100 million in cash. Denominations of Benjamins and smaller please.
