Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) indicated in a closed-door meeting with Senate Republicans that he did not yet have enough votes to defeat an effort, expected later this week, to call additional witnesses and evidence in President Trumps impeachment trial.
Pressure has ramped up to include witnesses after reports that former national security adviser John Bolton says in a book manuscript that Trump directly tied the holdup of nearly $400 million in military assistance to Ukraine to investigations of former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
The former national security adviser, who has complied with a White House directive not to cooperate in the inquiry, said he would testify if the Senate subpoenaed him.
Of course, Chuck Schumer and Adam Schiff welcomed the idea of Boltons testifying.
But will he tell the truth when he will be under oath?
Well if we watch this video from 10 years ago he wouldnt have a problem with lying under oath. https://twitter.com/Jali_Cat/status/1222374123852255238
Never lie to someone who trusts you; and never trust someone who has ever lied to you.
If Bolton would lie even once, why would anyone trust him to not lie again?
The purpose of a lie is to control. They are useful tools for many and will not go away.
The trouble is fewer and fewer people think like you. Which begs the question, why do you think like that? Maybe we should replicate it.
The NY Times report says Bolton claims he talked to AG Barr about the Ukraine. Barr says that claim is complete nonsense. I believe Barr over Bolton.
I did indeed read it, FRiend, and interpret it quite differently -
At the former speech in Kiev, Bolton sat on a panel and basically expressed that the national security establishment would not ALLOW Trump to become unconventional on policy, stating, The notion that [Trumps presidency] is going to represent a dramatic break in foreign policy is just wrong. Calm down, for Gods sake.
Emphasis on allow is mine.
He, to my mind, is communicating that the National Security establishment is in charge - not whoever is currently President.
Your mileage may differ. Thankfully, here on FR, we are still free to discuss, and disagree.
Tatt
And now we know why Bolton is a treacherous, traitorous littleman.
Calling witnesses is a Schumer trap. The republicant called witnesses can lie or plead the fifth, while the demon rat witnesses will be forced to speak the truth ad then their testimony spun by media to fit whatever the swamp wants portrayed.
“Which begs the question, why do you think like that?”
I think like that because it is efficient and I don’t need to remember the details of some tall tale.
My boss knows that I will tell him the truth, even if it’s bad news.
You can’t make good decisions from lies, you need to know actual true facts.
Thanks

and a vindictive SOB who can’t handle that he was fired, like a real man.
And you would trust his testimony after viewing this?
That's some good journalism! I almost couldn't believe it when the article said Ukraine's interference in the 2016 election was "well documented". MSM would say "totally debunked".
And also, regarding the Bolton leak, North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows "cut right through the machinations of the bipartisan Swamp Class Monday" and " ... Meadows adult comprehension of political gamesmanship is a stark contrast to many clueless Republicans".
I don’t believe him. When did he say he would testify? I expect him to refuse the subpoena.
bump
The authority to lie to the whole world is held by John Bolton for whatever John Bolton decides is proper, Constitution and oath thereto be damned.. Therein is the flaw in letting a sore assed fired littleman the power to lie for his chosen effect. Of course lying is the demon rat way, so the schumer scheme wants littleman Bolton spewing in the Senate..
Bolton gives himself the aythority to determine what warrants his lying, I.e., if he thinks President Trumps verbalizations are a threat to the nation, John Bolton authorizes himself to lie and keep on lying. THAT is a hallmark of the littleman complex.
What?
