I am concerned that the continued corona virus coverage is providing a smokescreen for other activity that is dangerous to the US.

Significant developments on my radar . . . .
I had mentioned earlier that the military has manned doomsday bunkers. More information indicates that military command teams under NORTHCOM sheltered within three hardened locations in the US ( Cheyenne, RavenRock, Mt.Weather).

Not only has there been an increase in states stopping out of staters from bugging out into their states, but now an increasing number of counties are doing the same. Most recently in California, Eldorado County as told outsiders to stay away from the South Lake Tahoe area for at least the next month. County leaders are also applying pressure to recreational renters and hotels/motels to cease rentals for the period. The major concern is that the outsiders may bring in the virus and overwhelm the local medical capabilities.

Washington Post (source warning) is reporting actual China death toll is 40,000+. Little surprise here, but the coverup of that magnitude is astounding. Other china related news, more EU countries complaining of the quality of medical supplies coming from China, most recently a shipment of masks that were made from underwear. . . . .

Syria -
ISIS launched several attacks across Syria, allegedly trying to take advantage of decreased readiness due to the corona virus.

Significant developments on my radar . . . .

China is not out of the woods. China reported 30 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, Reuters is reporting that a county in central China’s Henan province announced on Wednesday it had “virtually banned all outbound movement of people, following several cases of coronavirus infection in the area.” According to a post on its social media account, Jia county - which has a population of about 600,000 - said that no one can travel out of Jia county without proper authorization. Additionally, residents are not allowed to leave their homes for work unless they have clearance to do so.”

France -
A Sudanese national in the French town of  Romans-sur-Isere, just south of Lyon, went on a rampage Saturday on a busy street attacking 7 people, killing two and wounding five in a terror attack. He was not on any kind of terror watch list or known to law enforcement.

Iran -
Iran placed Long Range Fajr-5 multiple launch rocket systems on Qeshm Island today. The placement is a threat to oil shipping in the region and specifically the Straits of Hormuz.

Lebanon -
It is being reported by Iranian media reporting that Ali Mohammad Younis, a commander of Hezbollah, has been assassinated in southern Lebanon. Unclear if he was shot or stabbed, but there is still no official statement from Hezbollah.

US Surgeon General warns that this next week (Holy Week BTW) will be our Pearl Harbor/911 moment. Monitoring. But if rhetoric doesn’t equal results then something has to change.

Africa is facing a near complete collapse due corona virus related shutdowns. 50% of all projected job growth in Africa could be lost.

Japan seems to be losing control of infections, with states of emergencies being declared in Tokyo and six other prefectures.

US manufacturers are complaining to the government that China prohibited the export of medical supplies during the early phases of the pandemic. China was apparently trying to corner the market on those supplies. Now legal action is being planned against China. Well, keep the lawyers busy. Don’t forget, the US had just beat China in a trade war covering other items produced there.

If things weren’t bad enough already, there is a global condom shortage looming . . . .

Iraq/Iran -
Overnight, five missiles were fired at an “American oil company,” according to the Iranian Fars News website. Iraqi news reports something similar. The target was the Zubeir oil field, Basrah, operated by Halliburton. Terrorists utilized a similar ‘shoot and scoot’ tactic used against Taj and the Green zone - small, rocket launchers (truck or trailer mounted) are put into position, rockets lit and the militias immediatedly leave the area before response units arrive. Photographs of these launchers show 8 tubes welded into a launcher set. The launcher is set on the ground, loaded and fired. This attack had a high failure rate for launches, only 5 successfully launched (at least two 8-rocket launchers were recovered). Expect the terrorists to improve on this the next time. This may harbinger a change in tactics - attacking american owned/financed interests rather than poking the bear and attacking US troop directly. This may not work out too well for the Iranian backed militias because these companies employ a significant number of Iraqis with good paying jobs. Loss of such work will stiffen anger towards Iran et al.

Japan continuing to lose control - Prime Minister of Japan to declare State of Emergency this evening. State of Emergency measures to target seven prefectures in Japan for a period of one month.

University of Washington’s IHME model has been the source of much discussion. Initially projecting millions of deaths, last revision it projected a little over 81K. The model’s failings include over estimating the numbers of hospitalizations by a factor of 4 to 5. If revisions keep dropping the numbers, the medical ‘experts’ will be hard pressed to continue the draconian shut down measures.

UK Prime Minister admitted to intensive care after his symptoms worsen. Latest reports he is stable and not on a ventilator.

N Korea -
Various observers note that airborne intelligence platforms are flying almost 24/7 along the SK/NK border area. Expecting more missile launches.

Syria -
With most of its hospitals damaged or destroyed, Syria is facing a rampant corona virus explosion. However, at present, the death rate is far below that from the years of combat. What it is doing is causing troops to avoid operations is areas thought to be infected, slowing ground operations substantially. Artillery and airstrikes are the primary attack means. Even ISIS is warning fighters to take precautions.

Iran -
The USS Bataan and other U.S. Navy vessels of its amphibious task force entered the Persian Gulf over the weekend.

Somalia -
The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) carried out three separate strikes against members of the Al-Shabaab terror group on Sunday, killing eight members of the group.

China -
Zoom teleconferencing app has been “mistakenly” routing user data through China, the Silicon Valley company admitted last Friday evening. This has been a very common “mistake” lately, allowing Chinese access to potentially sensitive discussions by various entities using the app during the shelter at home portions of the corona virus pandemic. Meanwhile, Facebook allows China to flood FB with propaganda ads while failing to crackdown on the fake information.

CW2 -
The public is starting to chafe at the continuing disruption to daily lives compounded by increased totalitarianistic regulations and law enforcement. This is contributing to a further fraying of social order already ragged due to contentious politics. I expect to see increasing civil disobedience next week if the Armageddon of corona virus deaths doesn’t pan out this week.

IMHE models continue to drop their estimates of deaths, going from 2 million just a week or so ago, to yesterdays 81K now down to 60,415. This is reaching nothing burger territory, so much so that Kalifornia has gone in 3 days from crying for more ventilators to shipping 500 out to other states.

Note on modeling (I do modeling as part of my career). If you cannot accurately model the past to the present day, any projections with that model are worthless. Even a slight deviation of past results will create huge errors in prediction quality. IHME models continue to overestimate for example the numbers of hospitalizations by a factor of 4 to 5. Projecting this outward creates huge over estimates of hospitalizations. This is because the models do not accurately capture the variables nor have a valid sensitivity analysis for those variables.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was “clinically stable” in intensive care on Wednesday and responding to treatment for COVID-19 complications. He has been on oxygen but not a ventilator.

In Wuhan, after 76 days in quarantine the city’s lock down - as well as controls on outbound travel - have now been lifted, just after midnight in China with authorities encouraging resumption of business operations for this critical industrial hub. However, there are reports of panic buying in various regions and growing fears of a second round of infections- all buried by the communist leadership.

President Trump announced Tuesday that he would put a hold on funding to the World Health Organization amid the corona virus crisis. There are also bills in congress to do the same.

Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea have seen new corona virus cases creeping upward and have triggered alarms that the pandemic may be coming around for a second try.

Afghanistan -
The Taliban have walked out of landmark talks which were supposed to help pave the path to peace in Afghanistan. A spokesman for the militant group said the first face-to-face discussions with the government had proved “fruitless”. Talks have broken down over a prisoner swap agreed between the US and Taliban. Afghan leaders are opposed to any swap saying it was the US’ idea, not something they agreed to.

India/China -

Iraq -
Iranian backed militias are calling for more attacks and for the native Iraqis to boycott the American and coalition forces in an effort to push them out of the country. Very little evidence this is gaining any traction among Iraqis who see jobs coming from American firms and nothing from Iran except autocratic Islamic rule.

It’s amazing to think that this plan is 30 years in the making and we they are just now starting to be aware. For years Muslims have been flying under the radar building their arsenal and recruiting more to their evil cause.

More lock downs starting in China, Suifenhe, a border town with Russia 1,000 miles from Beijing, people have been ordered to stay indoors, with some exceptions. The border is closed to people, although not goods, and a 600-bed isolation hospital is being built. Meanwhile China still claims that nearly all new cases are due to the infected coming from outside China. We all know how accurate they are about this. China is tentatively coming out of lock down after nearly 3 months.

In Russia there are reportedly 8,672 confirmed cases in Russia and 63 deaths. There believed to be far more undetected cases and deaths. Russia has shut down most businesses to deal with the epidemic and that has reduced economic activity. That loss, plus the much reduced oil income have created some problems. Given the current poor economic condition of Russia, that added expense hurts. Russia has $234 billion in reserves but by law this reserve cannot be drawn on freely when the price of oil falls below $42 a barrel. Oil currently is in the low to mid $20 range due to the price war with Saudi Arabia. The economic chaos continues to affect Russia’s expansionist and global influence goals. Less money for military for new hardware (ships, planes, etc) and proxy battle support (Ukraine and Syria).

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s condition is improving in the intensive care unit of a London hospital, British Treasury chief Rishi Sunak said on Wednesday. Johnson has been sitting up in bed and engaging with his doctors at St. Thomas’ Hospital, said Sunak, according to The Associated Press.

Economic repercussions continue to reverberate across the US and the world. Bloomberg reports that farmers are panic-buying to keep America’s 95 million cows and other livestock fed. This upstream instability in our food supply eventually will hit us at the supermarket. Worker shortages due to infections are eating away at truckers, warehouse workers and food production factories. This is making the already short supplies even more vulnerable to any additional food and supply runs. The old saying is still valid, we are just nine meals from social breakdown and unrest.

Afghanistan -
Islamic State (ISKP) claimed responsibility for this morning’s rocket attack against Bagram Air Base. Taliban came out with its own statement denying its responsibility for rocket attack. Katyusha rockets were reportedly used in the attack. Photographs show a destroyed car with a makeshift launcher visible in the trunk capable of holding 5 rockets. The car was probably destroyed by the rocket back blast. No reports of any damage to the base or any casualties so far, with at least two of the rockets falling far short of the base. The use of a ‘disposable’ covert launch vehicle is similar to the tactic used in Iraq by Iranian proxy groups.

Yemen -
A unilateral two-week ceasefire called by the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen. Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a senior member of the Houthi movement’s Political Bureau, told Al-Mayadeen TV before the ceasefire began that the rebels wanted “a complete cessation of the war and the lifting of the siege once and for all”. Essentially the Houthi deman SA surrender its part in the war.

Iran -
The United States will block Iran’s request to the International Monetary Fund for $5 billion in emergency funding to help fight the corona virus. Last month it was revealed that the leaders of Iran diverted the bulk of a 1 billion euro grant to fund relief from the corona virus for their own purposes (and treatments). US also states Iran will divert the funds to support its regional disruption/wars in the region.

Iraq -
Iranian backed Popular Mobilization Unit announced operations to secure borders in southwestern Iraq. Location in question is Anbar Province, which is home to US military installation Ain Al Assad. Still looking at the extent of this operation as it could also be focused on ISIS rather than US forces.

N Korea -
Commercial satellite imagery of North Korea’s Sinpo South Shipyard indicates a probable dummy missile ejection test likely occurred in recent days .

CW2/Civil Unrest -
DHS has issued advisories to churches warning that the stress brought on by extended shelter in place orders may cause an increase in attacks on churches as individuals strike out, blaming churches for the pandemic (See also NYT’s editorial “The Road to Coronavirus Hell Was Paved By Evangelicals” - title later changed). DHS specifically stated “When you begin efforts to reconstitute services and welcome congregants back into your houses of worship, please also review your security plans and ensure procedures are in place to protect your facilities and visitors. Although there are no imminent or credible threats at this time, there has been an increase in online hate speech intended to encourage violence or use the ongoing situation as an excuse to spread hatred.”

There is a movement called “Rent Strike 2020” being pushed in the urban areas of both coasts, goal to cease rent payments and extract concessions from owners. In what may be partially related, nearly a third of U.S. apartment renters didn’t pay any of their April rent during the first week of the month, according to new data to be released Wednesday by the National Multifamily Housing Council and a consortium of real-estate data providers.

More calls are also showing up for increased militancy in unions and workers. There is further resentment at the shelter in place orders and how authorities are enforcing those orders. Increased distrust of a proposal for more invasive/intrusive medical surveillance programs (pushed by Jared Kushner and the CDC). Add to this the polarization of the upcoming elections in November and conditions continue to be ripe for unrest - especially if the lock down continues much past the end of the month.

This may well be a balloon by the WH to gauge openness. You are correct that the WH has issued denials, but there is a lot of smoke around the subject. So the “push” i cited may not include Jared, but it does include CDC and NIH. (let alone bill gates. . .. )
