It’s done to avoid slander. The game is played that you launch your smear, then wait a few days and release a synthetic apology.
The image she created of Jarrett’s politics as a cross between the Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes sticks so that Jarrett is viewed as both radical and backward, which is true.
