Trump’s Deal With Pelosi/Schumer Is A Huge Win For The GOP
DB Daily Update ^ | 9.8.2017 | David Blackmon

Posted on 09/08/2017 4:59:49 AM PDT by EyesOfTX

But Pelosi persevered, at least for now, staving off her challengers and critics by reminding them that she is a…wait for it…”master legislator”. That claim is a laughable lie, but if Pelosi knows one thing, it is that Democrats love, love, love being lied to, which of course is why she rose to power in the first place. So things calmed down for her, but she was far from out of the woods, and many observers have remained concerned there could be more moves to oust her as next year’s mid-term elections approach.

So, by now you’re wondering why I am writing about all of this today, and if I actually have a point to make, right? Right.

Well, yes, there is a point. It’s one I meant to raise in yesterday’s piece about the budget/debt ceiling/emergency relief deal President Trump made with Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, but the drugs I’m taking trying to get over the flu have left me so drowsy I forgot to do so. And it’s a point pretty much everyone seems to be missing in all of this, especially Republicans, most of whom spent all day Thursday whining about the President making a deal with the devil.

The point here is that, by making this deal with Pelosi and Schumer, President Trump gave them a success story to brag about, propped them up as their Party’s de facto leaders, and thus basically ensured that San Fran Nan and Cryin’ Chuckie Schumer will remain the ugly, deranged face of the Democrat Party through the 2018 midterm elections. In other words, the best possible outcome for the GOP.

When you see people like me talk about Trump playing 4D Chess while everyone else is playing checkers, this is exactly what we mean.

Exactly. I’ve been sick of the ‘Debt Ceiling’ for DECADES - long before Trump, or even Ryan. You don’t control credit card spending by fighting over the credit limit, you control credit card spending by controlling credit card spending.

Why the hell is it SO DAMN HARD for Ryan and others to understand that? If they want to control spending, they have the Authorization and they have the Appropriation process to do that...EVERY DIME (other than entitlements) goes through that. Why this (fake) infatuation with the debt ceiling? It’s TOTALLY TRANSPARENT to us by now...and sadly for them, it’s also transparent to Trump.

You are probably right about that. I do see us as culturally and morally rotten: a shiny husk around a putrid core.

As for a hot CW...yeah I can see that coming also. And I won’t say I would be sorry to see it happening.

There WILL be a showdown. Its pretty much inevitable.

That’s not a crime. Look up the requirements for impeachment proceedings. I don’t think you understand what it is about.

For 20 years I’ve called the modern civilized world a “gold plated garbage can”.

Now, if you don’t mind, I just got a 70” OLED TV and surround sound. I have to go play Grand Theft Auto...

Now that he has shown his true color, he should be impeached.

Now that's an interesting thought Mr. Schumer. For what, exactly, should he be impeached?

You nailed it.

The Republican Congress can still prove they want to control spending with budgets that pass their majority House and their majority Senate.

It is not Trump’s fault if they can’t get it done.

(Excuses don’t count in the real world—leadership either gets both the RINO and conservative votes or they don’t—leadership means leading to victory.)

Trump played the best hand he had.

The debt ceiling is a symptom of the disease, not the disease.

To all you citzen-journalists-
Blog on

I second Silverleaf’s motion. Even if the blogger puts the whole article on FR, if I like and agree with it, I give them a click in support.

I click on the links that I support and not on the links(Left Media Cartel) that I don’t.

Kind of like voting.

MOST of us here at Freerepublic are adults and totally capable of making up our own minds what we click on or do not click on.

From what I read here you are mostly devoted to high-jacking threads.

Silver & Ed ... unfortunately, freerepublic isn't a democracy. Here's Jib Robs take on it ...

Believe it or not, once upon a time vanities were frowned upon by our participants. FR’s original format was established to not only fight for liberty and against government abuse/corruption, etc, but to criticize the liberally biased mainstream media. Therefore our original format was to post from valid NEWS sources and government reports, etc, and to tear them down where deserved. Vanity posters were shunned (unless they were very good).

Then a few years ago the blogger craze started. At first, most of them were treated simply as vanities and were pulled or zotted on sight. Eventually some were accepted as valid material on FR. And soon the blogger wars commenced. To allow blogs or not to allow blogs was the question. Can’t go blanket either way. Like it or not, some blogs are better than most others.

So, long story short, we created a special forum for blog posts. This was in lieu of simply deleting all blog posts. The theory was that as long as they were posted in the bloggers forum, those who didn’t wish to read them could simply click on the “news” forum and they wouldn’t see them. But, of course, as some blogs are definitely better than most others and some are much better than your typical mainstream news sources, we soon allowed certain blogs to be posted regularly to the news section.

This all worked more or less to a certain degree without too much friction until the non-commenting, short-excerpting, long-complaining blog pimp was born.

I have no complaint if a good conservative blogger posts his own material to FR, not as an excerpt to drive hits and discussion back to his blog, but rather to impart useful information to OUR readers and to promote and join in on the discussion and conservative activism HERE on FR.

If a blogger can’t or refuses do that, and if he constantly complains or fights with our participants over it, then I’d just as soon he doesn’t post here. It’s not my job to make his content or his presentation or cooperation acceptable to our readers. That’s his job. And if he cannot do it or refuses to do it and continues posting brief excerpts only and obviously attempting to draw away our participants while loudly complaining about it, then I have no sympathy for his complaints and the more apt I am to ban his account and blog.

Furthermore, I’m not big on “rules.” You won’t see me posting rules for bloggers. The rules for bloggers on FR are the same as the rules for everyone else. If you are a good conservative activist and are willing to work with US on OUR goals and causes and not against US, then you’re welcome to post to FR. But unless we say otherwise your blog material should be posted to our bloggers forum and it would be best if you do not excerpt your own material and if you would actually join in on the discussion here on FR. We’re not really that interested in driving OUR traffic to YOUR blog. But if our readers see that you post useful information then they might start reading your site and that’s fine by me.
