Once again, the reasons for his behavior aren’t what everyone thinks. It’s all in his book - laid out in plain english.
He does this because he is “sorta” disrepecting their culture. Not really disrespecting it, but letting everyone around him know that “He’s above all of this”.
When making a negotiation make everyone think that you’re doing this in your spare time, and it’s such a lowly deal that you would rather be stuck in traffic than doing it.
So when he meets with these dignitaries he’s sending a crucial message: He is better than they are. This thing that they are planning all year is a fart on his calendar. He’s double booked.
And that is exactly how I want the USA represented. We are above all of this. We’ll shake your hand but don’t inconvenience us. We have better things to do. Like liberating more than half the planet and feeding the whole blue marble.
