I agree Jon is the Prince that was promised not Stannis. I hope Stannis doesn't have to die for us to find out the truth of that, I like his character, but this is GOT so I fear is he doomed. My guess is he dies by assassination by that bastard Bolton just outside of Winterfell.

Not sure about the “born amidst fire and smoke” and where that would come in to play. Unless his birth in the tower in the midst of war chaos would apply in a figurative sense.
