You’re very gullible.
Downhill after freezing rain.
You dont buy a Tesla because it saves you money, but you wouldnt know about that would you....
What happened to “your ignorance is glaringly apparent for everyone to see?” Is that smug little bandwagon an electric vehicle?
I’ve never been in a supercar like a Lamborghini, but I don’t see how it is physically possible to be much faster from a standing start than the Tesla S. The acceleration is unreal.
(And you seem to conveniently forget that other car companies have gotten billions from King Obama as well. If tax-subsidies are your standard, you have fewer auto purchasing options than most would imagine.)

No corporation should receive government subsidies.
I bet you guys love solyandra!
400 miles eh?
I live in Minnesota, it’s cold and snowing. I don’t have a garage..
think i make it 40 miles?
Yes, yet another.
I can understand and agree with the FR criticism of Tesla's government funding.
Beyond that, I don't care what rich people do with their money. It's their money. Also, I don't expect a very expensive car to be fuel efficient or even particularly practical for day to day use. I expect it to be appealing for other reasons.
A Tesla is a fascinating expensive (mostly) American gadget that also happens to function as an automobile. I would not enjoy being around eco-weenie Tesla owners bragging about how much Gaia approves of them, but as for the car itself -- I would love one.
I just bought a ford fusion energi. Lots to like.
20 miles electric before the hybrid kicks in (2.5 hr level 2 charge at about $0.60/charge). 14 gal tank with an estimated 512 mikes per tank. Average MPG so far: 41 - but most of my driving so far has been long highway drives.
Adaptive cruise control (with the potential for City Stop to be added as a software upgrade if it becomes available in the U.S.), blind spot notification, auto headlamps with auto bright/dim, rear camera, cross traffic warning, collision alert with pre-brake charging, lane keeping, on board navigation. The car has all the hardware to drive itself. The only thing missing is the software tie-ins.
I didn’t buy the car to be environmentally conscious. That green hype is a religion to which I do not subscribe.
The energi costs $4880 more than the same equipped hybrid with a 4007.00 federal tax credit and a 2500.00 Texas rebate from TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality). So, the car is $1600 cheaper than hybrid alone would be.
I had some hits on my income that was going to raise my taxes due in April (not my total tax bill) to about $3 grand. Now I’ll get a refund. I don’t have to agree with the manipulation of the tax code to take advantage of every avenue available to pay the least amount possible.
It is what it is. The car is fun to drive and it has the same tax advantages as having another child.
A “guy” was charging his Leaf at the gas station with his nose in the air the other day.. I walked by and though. eh, it’s the holiday’s time for a little fun! so I looked at the “zero emissions” tag and said “Zero emissions eh?” he got all pound and said “that’s right! No tail pipe or anything!” I laughed and said “this area is powered by a coal burning power plant. Your tail pipe is 150 tall and 8 feet around. There is nothing “zero” about your car.”
He did that liberal huffy puffy thing and stormed in to the store likely to complain about me. I didn’t hang around, I just hop’d in to my freshly fueled 93 K1500 and drove off.
Great looking cars, they drive nice to. All that is missing is a 500+ hp gasoline (maybe turbo/supercharged?) option..
Then, even being 50K+ I might buy one.
As long as it’s a golf cart under the hood? pass.
And then there is repair cost ...
If the Tesla battery stays at 375 volts, you will need about 1000 Amps for 15 minutes to charge the battery.
The wires in the charging cable will be approaching 1 inch diameter and will be reflected in additional car empty weight.
The wires from your electric utility to your house will need a major upgrade too...:^)
Heck, it makes a good lefty press release though...
fast charging electric cars will bring our grid to it’s knees. If your math is correct.
The charging stations would need to be connected to their own power plants.
“Please, your ignorance is glaringly apparent for everyone to see. Even a fool who has access to the Internet should know that hes speaking out of his @$$....”
I’m impressed with the brilliance of your technical explanation as to why batteries that take all night to charge today will be able to be charged in 15 minutes in a couple of years. I’m particularly impressed with all of the URLs you provided to buttress the science behind your assertions. You’ve totally convinced me.
“It came to the intersection and refused to wait. Then cut through the corner gas station to make time.”
Yeah, about what I’d expect from a Tesla owner, either that, or the guy was trying to rush home because his battery was about to die.
The charging stations would need to be connected to their own power plants.
That's the solution, personal diesel generating plants at each home. /S
PS My math may not be exact, but I believe it's in the ballpark.
One variable is "How hot do you want the charging cable?".
There are already quick charging stations that can bring an electric car to 80% charge in 25-30 minutes.
