Biden: We need ‘constant, unrelenting stream’ of immigrants
The Hill ^ | June 10, 2014 | Benjamin Goad

Posted on 06/12/2014 1:53:44 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Vice President Biden painted a rosy picture of the outlook for U.S. businesses Tuesday, but said economic growth hinges in large part on immigration reform, now languishing in Congress.

“We need it badly from a purely – purely economic point of view,” Biden said during remarks to the National Association of Manufacturers.

The call came amid a wide-ranging address to the business group, in which Biden said the United States is better positioned than its rivals to compete in the global marketplace.

“We have the most resilient economy in the world,” Biden told hundreds of people gathered at the business group’s annual conference. “We’re better positioned than any country in the world to lead the world in the 21st Century.”

Biden said a key to the country’s solid economic footing is the “the ‘constant, unrelenting stream’ of immigrants that has come to the United States for generations.

“Not dribbling,” Biden explained. “Significant flows.”

He said the United States is among a few countries that can boast sustainable population growth, a vital part of ensuring a sufficient workforce and growing economy.

“China doesn’t have it, Japan doesn’t have, it most European countries don’t have it,” he said.

Biden tied the historic economic benefits to passage of immigration legislation now stalled in the House. Citing government estimates, the vice president said a bill passed last year in the Senate would increase the gross national product by 4.5 percent over the next 20 years, reduce the national deficit by $850 billion and extend the solvency of the Social Security system by two years.

Biden also called for increased federal investment in the country’s infrastructure and steps to improve job training.

How about we deport these losers and give jobs to actual Americans? My family, which followed the rules and immigrated legally to this country, shouldn’t be having jobs taken away by criminals who do not respect American law. We have plenty of Americans who need these jobs. Let Mexico and all those other countries solve their economic problems and employ their own people, without expecting to use us to shoulder their problems.

The sooner we put into place Arizona like laws that require businesses to insure all their employees are legal, and begin enforcing existing laws, the sooner Mexico and other countries will be forced to reform their own countries.

A common position here at FR, and one that puzzles me completely.

This man is absolutely clueless. He not only puts his foot in his mouth almost monthly, but he has never and still doesn’t get basic economics. The guy is a simpleton. What an embarrassment.

He must be fond of bananas in his oatmeal

The Liberals have persuaded the US population to abort their children to the tune of 1.2million lives a year - under the guise of conservation of resources to sustain the nation.

Now the Liberals say we must allow an unrelenting stream of immigrant children to take the place of our aborted children in order to sustain the nation.

Meanwhile, black teen unemployment is averaging 38% (92% in Chicago) and white teen unemployment is about 18%.
Entry-level jobs are how teens learn job skills to carry them through life. Being denied entry into entry-level jobs can set back employment prospects (and wages) for years as the skills that should have been learned as a teen are pushed into post-18 years. How can we let our teens go unemployed if we want to sustain the nation?

Myself, I am wondering when Biden gets his uninterrupted flow of new Democrat voters whether or not he will support a $15/hour minimum wage for them.

Because when he and his ilk do get their immigrant flow and complete control, he (they) will be ‘management’ and the ‘new Americans’ will be labor. OR will they just give up the ghost and go full-bore “you work here, you live here and you take what we give you”.

America’s post-war (1945 to 1970) golden period was a time of low immigration with that immigration concentrated on White Europeans.

This was a time of widely shared prosperity with a broad and deep middle class and a narrowing of wealth gaps. During this time America built the Hoover dam, created the Interstate Highway system, and put a man on the Moon. We did all of this with a ‘white bread’ population and low immigration.

The post-1970 high ‘diverse’ immigration period has brought a narrowed less secure middle class, collapsing infrastructure, and the need for Russian rockets to launch our satellites.

Gov't estimates are always wrong...on the bad side.

Hoover dam

Wasn't Hoover dam built as a make-work project during the Depression?

The US economy has to be resilient to have survived FDR, LBJ, Carter, and now Obama. But there is only so much it can bear.
