Neither of the two Fort Hood shooters were ever in combat. CNN lies all the time, taking the side of America’s enemies.

We are seriously concerned about this.
Mr. Hasan came in with us, and will continue to be protected.
In fact, we will soon nominate him to the US Supreme Court."

Even IF he was a combat veteran, his PRO-ISLAMIC AGENDA against the US trumped whatever ‘PTSD’ he may have claimed!!

PTSD is not limited solely to combat events, that being said though, I don’t believe the case of a man who shoots up their workplace whilst yelling Allah Akbar is PTSD or workplace violence related. I also don’t believe that CNN is a legitimate outlet for psychological diagnosis.

Both Fort Hood shooters are cold calculating terrorists.
They are not suffering from PTSD or any other mental weaknesses other that the metal illness that is Islam.
Why are they still using the oxygen ration that should be reserved for others.

Just like 85% of the ragged-ass teary-eyed fishing-hat with POW-MIA pin wearing “Vietnam Vets” at the Legion and getting a nice big check were never in theatre, I have come to believe that 85% of “PTSD” sufferers were never in remotely stressful situations and just want a meal ticket.
Read STOLEN VALOR and you’ll understand where I’m coming from...
It is one of the most important books of the decade.

Definitely not the “outlet” but they sure as hell could use a psychological diagnosis.

As a Vietnam vet, Golux,I mildly resent your singling out us for an exemplar. That said, I share your view that PTSD is diagnosed too often. Many of these “sufferers” need to just man up and get on with the rest of their lives. For those who are truly traumatized, I offer unconditional support with gratitude.

As a pre-Vietnam non combat vet, I tend to agree with your first sentence. Except there is NO “big check”.
Your sentence about PTSD is pretty over the top. I guarantee that EVERY man or woman who has “Seen the Elephant” has some form of PTS.(Not PTSD) I do not believe PTS is a disorder, just a conditon.. There is no way a normal human being can see the carnage of a battle field or even the carnage of a natural disaster and ever be the same again.
Don't believe me? Talk to adults that lived through some disaster as a child and just see how they are still affected.

The simple fact this guy is still alive amazes me and the lack of a military brother hood exists.

I’m aware of a cervical spine stretching intervention that involves a stout rope and an oak tree that is guaranteed to cure the alleged PTSD.

Very true.... I lived though hurricane Andrew as an adult and the thought of a hurricane does make me very uneasy.....

My cousin patrolled outside the wire at Cam Ranh Bay for a year. When he finally sought help for his depression and nightmares, he was diagnosed with PTSD. He killed himself before he got a dime.

My brother spent six months in Vietnam, and the base he was at was attacked several times. He started showing symptoms of PTSD about 15 years ago, was diagnosed by a VA doctor 10 years ago, and still has not received even sympathy from the VA.

You apparently know little.....

I strongly, strongly urge you to read STOLEN VALOR.
It is an absolute must read on this subject.
Sadly, the fact is - the FACTS are - that an astonishing number of claimants, almost all of whom are successful, are frauds. A massive number of “Vietnam Vets” on disability are frauds. And, as you probably know, a shocking number of the guys who hang out at The Wall, who are on TV, who have written books about secret ops, whose service is lauded, who talk about “Agent Orange” (Dude I was orange all over my skin for years! [uhh, it wasn’t orange...]) are frauds.
FRAUDS. All over.
Almost all the bums on the street are frauds. What Kerry undertook is more than a common theme.
My own service was extremely modest. I have the deepest love and respect for our combat heroes. But a lot of the PTSD guys - indeed most - are frauds.
It is a plain fact.
