"There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit." Al Gallagher, ( retired major leaguer, quoted in 1971)
The AL East is a well, beast..this year...I don't think the Yanks make the playoffs..
Never happen..the Bay area isn’t big enough to support a ML team...even if you built a new stadium..the Rays will be gone before the current lease runs out...
I think if it was in Tampa, it might be better. Closer to the population and easier to get to.
Keep your eye on the opening ceremonies in Pittsburgh.
They’ve invited Barry Bonds back to town to present Andrew McCutchen with his MVP award.
Crowd reaction should be REEEEEEEAL interesting!
I saw that, and I have to ask myself WHY?
My earliest memory of the Tribe is going to a Yankees-Indians game in 1968 at Municipal Stadium. Mickey Mantle was playing first base for the Yanks. Tom Tresh hit a grand-slam off Sonny Siebert that proved to be the winning margin.
My brother had a friend who earned a baseball scholarship at Cleveland State University. He used to drive up from Pittsburgh and hang out with him. CSU played their games in old Municipal Stadium. A night game there with 75 people in attendance was a really creepy experience, I’m told.
Long suffering Royals fan. Last season was fun for a change, but Hochevar our for the season isn’t going to help.
As of today, My Lastros (Astros) are tied for first place!
Wait till next year CENTURY.
I’m fired up for the Tigers, yet dismayed by Iglesias, Rondon and Dirks being out of commission for extended periods.
Miggy and Verlander left spring training in mid-season form, new manager Brad Ausmus is promising more risk-taking on the bases, Ian Kinsler playing 2nd base and leading off should account for more runs than last season’s lead-off, Austin Jackson, Cy Young award winner Max Scherzer is playing out his contract and has every incentive to perform well this year.
Play ball!
Well let’s hope Kate Upton doesn’t weaken Verlander’s legs.
Let’s go Mets!
We’ll probably be out of the pennant race by Friday.
I like some of their offseason moves, but our bullpen looks weaker than last year.
Play ball!
My Cincinnati Reds are a big question mark. They begin the season with an injured pitching staff, little hitting, and lots of early dates with the Cardinals and Pirates.
At this point, I see them as an 81-85 win team this year...500 to barely above 500 baseball.
In their own division, they’ll be far behind by May/June, and it probably means no way to catch up.
No kiddin. Most around here think Ms Upton was the cause of JV’s mediocre performance in 2013
Hopefully we will see another 90-win effort from the Tribe.
My Red Sawx have Sizemore starting in CF..I saw in in spring training..he looks great..I think he’ll have a better year than Ellsbury, and for a hell of a lot less $$.
Actually, when they moved to the high-slugging American League last season with THAT lineup, I expected the Astros to lose 112 games. They lost 111. So there is hope.
