From a Command Prompt try:
ipconfig /release {enter key}
ipconfig /renew {enter key}
Then see what ipconfig /all {enter key} gives back
I wouldn’t think you’d need an id or password if you plug it into the router. I just plug in a new computer, and open the web browser with FIOS. Wireless can be tricky, but wireless shouldn’t be. I’d recommend calling U-verse customer service.
And I’d never download the ATT or Verizon software to my computer. The machines come from the factory with enough garbage on them.
Using the Ethernet Cat 5 cable, no wireless router.
System is XP version 2002 service pack 3
Remove your sbcglobal software using add/remove in control panel. If still unable to get connect call into support desk.
What security scheme are you using. If you used allowed MAC addresses on your router you will have to add the old dells MAC address to the router. If you use a router
password you might have to add the neteork password to your dell. Look at the network icon in the taskbar. Is the router showing up
If your old dell is XP it js a little harder to set uo. Go to the control panel and look for network. It will have some set up functions there.
I'm just the guy who suggested he needed to give more info concerning his PC, OS, etc, etc.
You still need internet access for those.

I have it and it works fine. I think you will need to configure the settings and enter the code on the side of the router/modem. The instructions that came with it should walk you through it just fine.
Hooray, hooray, lucked into it.
It was in the LAN settings tab.
Right click on Internet Explorer, >Internet Properties>Connections>LAN settings>
Automatically detect settings checked
Use a proxy server for LAN checked
Bypass proxy server for local addresses checked (don’t know if this is correct)
