Good afternoon,
This especially goes out to all of my musician Freepers. We've been using Monster Cables for years. Love 'em. Need to purchase another cord for our Fender P. Considering CBI. We don't do cables from Asia. USA made preferably. What's your preference?
Thank you for your time and input, TJI
Lavaman. Army veteran who makes milspec guitar cables.
I don’t know where “planet waves” cables are made but they are great.
Not a guitar expert but I can say that in all other areas the fancy high dollar cables are a complete and total waste of money ,,, The Grateful Dead played for years attempting to get some “better” sound out of ultra-low impedance stage circuitry and guitar pickups and it never made an ounce of difference. I would put the highest importance on reliability , strength and price ,, I would think that cables would be abused and having them fail from being yanked/pulled , caught on things ... and having them inexpensive enough to have multiple backups ... would be most important.
I’m not crazy about Monster products. Good adverti$ing though$
I use Bill Lawrence for guitars and pedal steel. Love them! They sound great.

I was just checking out Lavaman. How long have you been using ‘em? How’s the road wear?
Thanks, Dr. Will check these out.
Yeah, Neidermeyer...
I’m not interested in the boutique cables. Just well shielded, road worthy, clean cables.
Planet waves has a higher grade i like.
Don't know where they're made.......
Mogami cable and Neutrik ends. Buy bulkand make your own. Monster cables are garbage. Dont believe the hype about the oxygen free cable. What is exposed tooxygen when they solder it to the jack? That end of the cable is.still exposed. Never could get a Monster rep to answer that one. Monster also uses a proprietary jack. It is slightly oversized from a standard 1/4” jack. They did this so they would not have to pay Switchcraft royalties for using a true 1/4” jack. This doesnt make much of a difference short term, but over time it will widen the plugs of all your equipment, making loose connections if you dont have your Monster cable. The Neutrik NP2 and Mogami w2524 is what I suggest, been using this combination years with no problems.
I have a monster cable for my basses. The plug is ever so slightly larger than the rest of my cables and it can be difficult to pull out sometimes.
Meanwhile, I tend to make my own cables nowadays, often from broken cables at Guitar Center.

Thanks Necrovore and cuban leaf.
I’m reading about Planet Waves. May check that out. Glanced at the Mogami. Interested in this as well.
I appreciate the great input (pun intended)

Generally agree, but the very cheap guitar cables usually have screw off ends, and those will unscrew themselves and come loose lying on the floor in the middle of the night. I’ve used the cheaper Monster cables and also Planet Wave. The most I’ve paid for a cable was a longer Planet Wave, for $35. Neither the Monster or PW cables have screw off ends and they work fine.
Mogami, are the best cables.
What you said.
No kidding. I truly got disgusted with the whole "audiophile" joke decades ago when "Audiophile" magazine did their hilarious speaker and interconnect listening tests. The things those clowns imagined they could hear was great. As long as you did not spend a dime following their advice.
Geez, talk about gullible and suggestible personalities. The manufacturers of those cables and the ad copy guys had to be in stitches reading the reviews. As you would expect, the more outrageously expensive the cable and grandiose the claims, the more those twits liked it.
