Asking Yourself a Question: More 'Conservative'... or 'Libertarian'?
Reaganite Republican ^ | 19 March 2013 | Reaganite Republican

Posted on 03/19/2013 8:30:58 AM PDT by Reaganite Republican

Even though I agreed with much of what Ron Paul had to say, all I could ever think is 'this isn't my guy' for president -too odd a demeanor/un-electable- not to mention foreign policy positions that were appalling to a peace-through-strength Republican like myself, particularly statements made re. Iran and Israel.

But lo-and-behold, now we have fervent offspring Rand Paul who -while libertarian in his views- apparently saw wisdom in distancing himself from his father's take re. the volatile Muddled East.. and that's when I started listening to him.

Maybe I've changed in my hawkishness too- I'd rather have not been involved in Libya at all -don't want to empower jihadists in Syria- and find it pointless to back wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that I supported all the way when we're just going to hand them over to Iran or the Taliban at the end anyway.

Sooo, looking at the handy chart I found at the Libertarian Party (who I don't advocate as viable in 2016, even Rand Paul prefers working to take-over the Republican party to a 3rd-party challenge for practical reasons) you might find it useful to see right where the lines are drawn, as well as where you yourself stand as a whole in today's turbulent political cauldron...

I don't know how 'socially tolerant' I am, but if putting social issues on the back burner to ensure fiscal crises remain front+center from now through 2016, so be it. Note that the 'libertarian' overlap below appears to be a potentially appealing package as far as winning elections go...

Do remember...radical Muslims also desire theocracies. While I agree that no nation can survive without morality, please show me where in the constitution or declaration of independence it says one has to be ‘Christian’...many of the founding fathers weren’t.

AuntB,

This discussion is not about a theocracy, but about the basis the foundation of our laws. Nothing I have posted should be construed, or mis-construed to mean a support of a Theocracy.

Whoa there my little liberal troll-friend. Better stick to pushing dope and lay off the twisting of Scriptures.

You’re going to Hell already for your pro-dope agendas. No need in adding to the fire for your contempt of the Bible.

libertarians actually view any attempts to defend the weak and helpless as a violation of the rights of the evil and powerful. i think you just said that.

I think you must have a wonderfully fertile imagination.

So you support the stoning to death of unruly sons?

I will assume you are sincere in that post and just have missed my point.

The founders of our country created a form of representative government based on the laws and commands of the God of the Christian Bible. They also stated at the time that this form of Government was ONLY for a Christian country and would fail otherwise.

They put the Freedom of Religion clause in the founding documents to protect against the government favoring one sect of Christianity over another, not to remove the Consideration of God's laws in the formation of our legal and governmental system.

Do not try to twist this argument into something I did not state in anyway, that we should institute the government according to all laws in the Old Testament.

That being said, the foundation of our country's legal and governmental system was setup BASED on the Bible of the only true God of this universe, the God of the Bible..

God will not be mocked.

Why would you conclude I am mocking God?

It is YOU I am mocking, but your confusion about this point is understandable.

I remember well when the rubber met the road in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Libertarians stood with the anti-war Left.

Wrong. Any freedom comes with responsibilities. Libertarian does not equate to libertine.

But, you'd know that if you actually cared. Which, I'm not convinced you do.

The Left believes much more in Government-regulated morality than Conservatives do. They just do it from a secular, moral relativism perspective. Hell, just about every argument they make is rooted in their concept of morality (”think of the children!” for instance) rather than logic.

The views attributed to “the Right” are childish caricatures of leftist views of the right or RINO republicanism — they are not views of conservatism.

Most of what passes for libertarian positions is plain old fashioned conservatism.

People can call themselves what they wish but they can't be expected to have others buy into their classifications of others when they are stilted, adolescent propaganda.

NO ONE says people have to practice religion, but have the right to practice the religion of their choice.

Libertarians want to give people freedom to do anything. All societies need restraints or you will have anarchy. I don’t believe the lie that people are basically good. It’s the opposite. If people think they can do anything they will try everything; including things are are harmful to society.

There is zero tolerance with God for sin, and he has already provided the model to be used for good governance in the Old Testament.

So you support the stoning to death of unruly sons?

Whoa there my little liberal troll-friend. Better stick to pushing dope

I've never pushed dope. Better lay off the bearing false witness.

and lay off the twisting of Scriptures.

You'd better clarify the correct understanding, lest others be led astray - that is your Christian duty.

You’re going to Hell already

Your delusions of Godhood are duly noted.

Good to hear. So how shall we apply the model to be used for good governance from the Old Testament?

I would conclude you are mocking God from your previous statements about "thumping bibles." You clearly don't hold the word of God in much esteem.

"It is YOU I am mocking, but your confusion about this point is understandable."

Ha! The world is truly upside down. YOU think you are God. You think that you can ignore God's word and God's natural laws. You think that the laws of our land can be divorced from their Judeo-Christian foundations and taken out of that context. You think you can bugger and abort and drug and fornicate, again, ignore God's natural laws, without consequence...

You've made a false god out of your own flawed opinions. I guess its natural that you would project that sort of outlook onto others.

I will look forward to that. Because he IS pushing Rat Poison on: Immigration. Marriage. Life. And National Defense.

He is just a lot more polished.

How is drug use against God's natural laws? Does that include the addictive mind-altering drug alcohol?
