It’s been asserted (by liberals) that liberals are in temperament and intellect more at home with cognitive dissonance than conservatives are. Lefties can abide loose ends, and accept seemingly contradictory ideas in the same construction, like “George Lopez’s comedy.” It’s the quality that gives liberals their vaunted ability to find “nuance” in any situation. Meanwhile, we “Dead or Alive” cowboy conservatives, not blessed with that sort of intellectual dexterity, can only see black and white moral absolutes.

But cognitive dissonance really is at the core of liberalism.
