If the mohammedans (or anyone else) nuked Vatican City off the face of the Earth ... the Church would carry on its mission ... and set up HQ somewhere else. We'd likely be more than a little annoyed, but Rome/VC as such is NOT essential to the Faith.

Yes, I agree with you from the Christian point of view. However, I would be lying if I say I won’t have any problem to see churches like Notre Dame, Cologne Cathedral, Westminster Abbey or St. Peter’s Basilica to have same experience as Hagia Sophia: turned into mosques.
