The one great blunder made by the founders was the failure to include term limits in the Constitution.

I have a feeling the Statesmen founders who wrote the Constitution couldn't perceive of people actually wanting to be career politicians.. for them, they had to leave their farms, stores, churches and families, and travel far away just to argue with other folks for no monetary benefit. They probably never expected that becoming a politician could make you a millionaire.

They saw it coming, and that’s why they made serving a part-time under-paid position that only accomplished individuals could afford to serve in... Under their design, no term limits were needed.

Only after we let politicians turn political office into the best get-rich-quick scheme in America did term limits become attractive.

Take away their salary, their benefits, their pension and make it a part-time job again, and watch how fast they lose interest in the job...
