Bill Press pressing for Fairness Doctrine. Bill who?
IHateTheMedia.com ^ | 02/08/09

We were going to start this story by saying, “Bill Press called called free speech on the radio a ‘failed experiment from the Regan era.’” But we were worried you would react by saying, “Bill who”

Press is a yet another failed liberal talk show host. A bitter, angry liberal talk show host. But we repeat ourselves.

“Maybe it’s time,” Press said in a Washington Post op-ed piece today, “to bring back the Fairness Doctrine — and bring competition back to talk radio in Washington and elsewhere.”

Press is upset because...

What are they scared of? Anyone who sanctions censorship deserves a cup of molten lead in their rectum.

If newspapers had been so petty, small, and utterly partisan not so many decades ago, the vast majority of people would have laughed them to scorn.

there's a weird zombie-like acceptance of this stuff now. that's the thing that bugs me

Liberal radio does not suffer from a lack of access. It suffers because it sucks. Who wants to listen to HATE 24/7?

Forget about censorship for a moment, this bill would be hugely anti-business when we desperately need more jobs.

Very few people will listen to liberal drivel so stations will have to lay off people to stay alive.

The way I see it government should stay out of business except to protect property rights and punish fraudsters.

Let's see if the lessons of Don Imus have been learned. How long before Limbaugh is “discovered” uttering some “hate speech”. It got him off the TV screen once.

lol...only in the Orwellian world of commies like Press is "competition" defined as the gov't manipulating the free market and forcing radio stations to air Marxist propaganda.

And after their ratings fail miserably, advertising dollars fall through and nobody still listens, they’ll start mandating that grocery stores, airports, workplaces etc pipe this left wing garbage over the speakers.

“— and bring competition back to talk radio in Washington and elsewhere.”

Elsewhere, huh? So I presume Press favors legally imposed ideological balance in academia, Hollywood, and big city newspapers? Or just in the sole medium in which conservatives have an edge?

What is just as interesting is another article linked on that website—the Senator who was pushing this on Bill Press Radio Show has HUSBAND who is AN EXEC @ failing Air America. Talk about a lack of fairness?!!!

When liberals start referring to free speech as a “failed experiment”, I instinctively look over at my gun cabinet.

We need to go for the sound bite, catchy phrase etc. by ALWAYS referring to it as the UNfairness Doctrine.

Then if we do it often enough (Rush, Sean et al need to be doing it too) everytime they babble about the ‘Fairness’ Doctrine, the public will hear UNfairness.

The perfect answer here...since we are giving away money anyway....just toss in $500 million for free gov’t advertising for any liberal station in America. This should be enough to cover two entire years of support and keep them employed. Other than forcing Rush off the air...which would be the next best answer...its hard to sell how fairness weaves itself into this discussion.

If I were Bill Press...the one thing I’d be very worried about....is that we get the Fairness Doctrine, and then Rush sets up his broadcast studio in Havana....broadcasting Radio-Free-Rush via the satellite system to America. This would set the entire doctrine into a spiral.

It funny that no one has had a problem with PBS and other public TV stations and their extreme left wing propaganda programming.

Okay, bushwon, we've put the new story up about Senator Stabenow's husband (and liberal talk radio channel founder) Athans getting caught buying oral sex form a prostitute last year. I think it was buried and took the Freedom of information Act to get it out.

Fairness Doctrine advocate Senator’s husband nabbed with prostitute south of Big Beaver

The moderator won't let me post our news in the News section any more (????), so could one of you go over to it and post the link above for me? I think this story needs to get out here beyond the Bloggers section. Thanks.
