Ifill the moderator (book seller) proof
vanity | 10/3/08 | Steve Angell

Posted on 10/03/2008 6:33:48 AM PDT by ImphClinton

Ifill was selling books at the debate.

Ifill got dirty quickly anouncing rules then breaking them herself on the very first question giving no followup time for it.

She only enforced “rules” against Palin throughout. Actually she cut off Palin too early breaking her own rules each time.

At 12:55 Palin anounces she will answer Bidens attack at 13:39 Ifill cuts off Palin off. She in hurting Biden so Ifill breaks the rule completely cutting her of after only 45 seconds abruptly and nasty as any woman ever. “Now let’s move on here”. Boy was Biden smiling as Ifill slapped down Palin.

Ifill then asked a really bad question acussing McCain of hurting the poor by taking their insurance away. Saying employers would cancel $12,000 policies rather than pay taxes on it, employees would then need to use their new $5,000 credit to buy worse insurance. While helping Biden play the class warfare card against McCain.

From 17:50 through 19:30 Biden drones on 100 seconds and is awarded first on next question. Why was he not cut off like Sarah? Need I ask.

Later on (32:30) Biden is doing very badly lamely defending his no coal in America statement, he goes on for 100 seconds whereupon Ifill tries to help him out with a new question of Sarah. Sarah speaks for 70 seconds she is destroying Biden Ifill again cuts off Palin off (remember Biden just got 100 seconds) to help Biden for the next 55 seconds she helps Biden out of the hole jumping in with help as needed.

54:50 Palin is destroying Biden on the Iraq and Afganistan war. Ifill awards Biden a full 120 seconds. But it doesn’t help much so Ifill tries to help Biden by correcting his mistakes in a question to Sarah who gets 45 seconds. Ifill then gives Biden an extra question he drones on 100 seconds but is not cut off like Palin was (he is doing poor but OK).

At 69:10 Biden ask can I respond? Ifill answers very sweetly “Please” (break the rules again). Thankfully Sarah didn’t give Ifill a chance to cut her off this time by speaking up loudly and quickly the instant Biden stopped.

On the next question they joked a little. Ifill was somewhat fair for the last 20 minutes.

I would imaging that Biden most likely got a two or three more minutes total time than Sarah. I was adding it up but it was to close for this to be an obvious example of bias. In the last 20 minutes Sarah got to respond then answer and made up some time. Maybe Ifill was trying to be fair during the last 20 minutes.

This insurance nonsense must have come off Obamas website I can not imagine an employer doing this. They might charge the employee $5,000 / year but would not cancel. Too many employees would quit especially the ones with very expensive $12,000 insurance. I only work where I do for the insurance.

As others pointed out the questions were really stacked. Questions seemed to be designed to save a failing Biden or to cut of a Palin response. Questions or even statements to help Biden were made. Heads Biden wins Tails Biden wins questions were asked. No Abortion question (really bad for baby killing Obama) was asked. Certainly none from McCains site.

Thanks so much for posting this.

It answers the question (with time stamps) was Ifill fair?

Sarah was in a no win situation last evening and she won in my opinion simply on class and overall perception.

I would not put it past these buttwipes that Biden got the questions in advance...he answers some of those questions quickly and with information/statistics that not too many politicians carry in thier heads.

I may be mis-remembering, but I believe Ifill asked Palin a question on cutting programs, and Palin's answer focused on cutting taxes -- frankly, it could have been seen as a dodge.

But Ifill immediately followed with a question about cutting taxes, which was almost an invitation for Palin to repeat herself and look repetitive and lost. But Palin didn't fall for that and gave a good response.

Seemed to me that Ifill may have fiddled with the order of her questions in an effort to hurt Palin.

I agree.

Obama must be so ticked today. Olberman must be so mad.

Sarah was unbelievable. She hit it out of the ballpark on nearly every question for the first hour and ten minutes. She was absolutely devastating.

Now McCain needs to do the same on Tuesday. I believe he can and wonder if he held back some last week.

But they need to get word out better about the Press and only go on FOX, fixed format or live till the election. They can not allow themselves to get into Gotcha situations any more.

If the bail-out is passed will he feel free to again be a 'Maverick'?

Palin made it clear early on that she would answer the questions that needed asked. Ifill asked this gotcha question and Palin wisely answered about cutting taxes. Responding to Biden rather than being directed into a trap by Ifill. Ifill then cut her off.

This is what politicians always do.

But Ifill set a new low. Moderators seldom break rules so flagrantly.

She only enforced “rules” against Palin throughout.

At one point, Biden started saying things like, 'I'm sure I'm almost out of time..." But Ifill let him keep talking.

Biden seemed mildly embarrassed by the favoritism.

Ifill was on the national “Tom Joyner Morning Show” this morning (black radio show) yukking it up with the hosts while they ripped into Palin and she agreed.

Yeah, she was the right person for the job.

Ya think?
Ifill did everything but put the order sheet on the counter and answer the phone for call-in book orders.
There was not even the hint of impartiality.

Ifill also stumbled over her words and phrased her questions in a rather convoluted way. Example:

IFILL: OK, our time is up here. We've got to move to the next question. Senator Biden, we want to talk about taxes, let's talk about taxes. You proposed raising taxes on people who earn over $250,000 a year. The question for you is, why is that not class warfare and the same question for you, Governor Palin, is you have proposed a tax employer health benefits which some studies say would actually throw five million more people onto the roles of the uninsured. I want to know why that isn't taking things out on the poor, starting with you, Senator Biden.

So, Biden will go first, and at some point in the future, Palin will respond to a question about ... what? Tax rates? Health benefits? Uninsured citizens? Class warfare? Exactly what does Ifill expect Palin to talk about?

As pointed out by other FReepers, corrupt biased PBS-DNC-Commssion,
and whoever, also give Biden a larger split-screen and
used a moving center, sliding over Gov. Palin's face.

PBS, Ifill, Lehrer are all below contempt by hiding the financial connections and THEN fixing the system.

I was thinking the same thing about Biden having the questions in advance. There were several questions that he was just too quick with the answer and the answers seemed very rehearsed.

Ifill seemed to be winging it at times. She had prepared questions but was tweaking them on the fly to make it more difficult for Sarah and easier for Joe.

If you want your blood to boil listen to that S.O.B. Michale Baisden. He is black and has a nationally sindicated afternoon show. It is sickening!
