I think questions of origins are very important. For example, I think it is an profound conclusion to say certain aspects of 4.5 billion years ago are unkowable.

Of course the study of biological processes can proceed without a theory of origins; even so, but that life originated independent of biological processes

It would be more profound if we knew exactly what will be forever unknowable. Just now, I'd say it's too early to speak for forever.
