Careful, don't put words in my mouth.

He HAS to ask her to come over to my house.

My husband doesn't have to ask my permission to go anywhere. But considering our life is like a three-ring circus, I like it when he tells me his plans so that I can plan accordingly. Better yet, I like it when he asks if we have any conflicting activities. I'm not his mother or his keeper, but I think it's just politeness to keep each other informed.

Just lay down the law every once and a while....

I said I didn't want to be on a pedestal, but I also don't want to be under a boot. I'm not a child either, so I don't need the law laid down for me.

What would happen if he said something like this?

Bro: Hon, I haven't seen my brother Hottieboy in ages. If we don't have other plans, I'd like to go have a few beers with him. On Saturday, I'll take care of the kids so that you and Dashing Dasher can go fly her plane upside down.

Wife: Great. Will you take me to Brokeback Mountain Saturday night?

Bro: Sorry, Hon. Not gonna happen.

I didn't mean to imply that your house was like this at all.

And you are right about Brokeback, at least for me anyway. But for him, it's not a matter of him taking her. She would tell him they are going and that would be the end of it. So sad.
