I agree that the UN mission was often dishonest - almost as dishonest as Milosevic and Turjman proclaiming that Serbia and Croatia weren't supplying men and material to the war in Bosnia.
As for Alija Izetbegovic, I can only speak for what I saw in Bosnia during a brief trip in 2000, and for the Bosnian Muslims that I know personally. They all seem very secular folk, more likely to drink themselves silly than pray in a mosque. Indeed Bosnians in general seemed pretty secular, nothing like what I saw last year in Egypt. If Izetbegovic really wanted an Islamic state in 1992 then he did a lousy job.
Milosevic was small player; great responsibility is on those who had yield great power. Tudjman did not have to proclaim anything he did not have to hide his involvement in Bosnia - international community always had lots of understanding for his actions.
Muslims are absolute darlings of the west and onus was and still is on Serbs to explain themselves but there is no will to understand them. No Serbian politician is good for the West unless he is ready to sell his people 101% and no one Serbian interest is respected by the international community.
As you can see, there is definitely system in that madness.
Do not judge book by the cover - Mohammed Atta also liked to drink. As for Izetbegovic, do not judge him too harshly. He did lousy job because he had lousy material to work with. Thats the reason he did not mind sending hundreds and thousands of his soldier to be killed in poor planned and executed actions.
