I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: “Free Republic is made up of some of the finest minds I’ll ever know.” And for that, I am forever grateful for their expertise. I am forever grateful for this new media.

I've said it before and I'll say it again .. FREEPERS ROCK!!

Dittos. Two watershed events marked the new media as a permanent establishment in the political landscape.

The first is Dan's Bake sale. Rush Limbaugh organized a bake sale for a listener to help him obtain a subscription to the Limbaugh letter. The turnout was into six figures, if I recall right. The paradigm shift was the perception that the Right had a voice and that the Right is now united under that voice.

The second was the breaking of the Lewinsky story. The print media had the news under their thumb up to that point. The paradigm shift was that the print media could not covertly spike any news and that the united voice of the new media was aware of it. IOW, the establishment media knows that we know of this tectonic shift. The result is that the Right can put the establishment media on the defensive. Let the games begin.

It feels so GOOD not to be shackled by the OldMedia any more. Used to be that was the only source of readily available news, experts, commentary. Used to be the news was what big-city editors decided it should be. Used to be the news was filtered entirely through the bias of the management. Used to be the viewers and listeners had to take the anchor at his word, because he declared he was unbiased and there really wasn't a way to fact-check. Used to be.

Now stories are broken on FR hours/days before the OldMedia can even dispatch a reporter to the scene. Now expert advice is available within minutes of a thread being posted. Now the commentary is brilliant, insightful, and frequently hilarious, and from someone other than a talking head.

I love FR!

It's even the choice of us approaching geezerhood.

"I think that MSM is getting the message from their advertisers. Pretty soon, the only people advertising on CBS will be the ones selling vintage musican collections and the K-Tel Record Selector."

This is an example of the true power of the American people. And remember everyone, you heard it here first on FR from one of our citizens.

You're welcome. And as far as you being honored, we're still wondering about you, though! :) HA! I'm just kidding!

You of all people should know that if people like you don't read this stuff then there's no point in writing it. So thank you. I really appreciate it.

"Sorry for the extreme brevity last night; yours was the last thread I read before heading to bed."

It's too late now. I'm still sulking, curled up in the fetal position while sucking my thumb over the brevity last night. :) Hehe! Just kidding!

You're still a nice person. Even I have to go to bed as well.

Chris
