Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) reportedly wants to push California Gov. Gavin Newsom as the 2028 Democratic nominee for president.
Sources close to Pelosi told Axios that the Democratic Party leader has been pushing Newsom for 2028 behind closed doors, given that the two have been working together, going back to his days as San Francisco mayor.
“Pelosi has one of the strongest donor networks in Democratic politics. She’s been a key validator for Newsom as he’s emerged on the national stage and become one of President Trump’s most visible foes,” noted Axios. …

Not a huge surprise.
What is somewhat surprising, is I hear Nancy will also be endorsing Jack aka Goofball Schlossberg in his run for Congress. I would not expect her to chose being linked to the potentially biggest political trainwreck ever in the Dem Party, and that’s saying a lot.
I’m not the least bit surprised.
Dementia is a sad thing.
As a voter in San Francisco, I’ve probably seen Gavin Newsom’s name on perhaps a dozen or so ballots over the last quarter century... and I have a perfect record of NOT voting for him.
So maybe I’m biased, but damn I just don’t get the appeal. The guy has literally failed at everything in every office. At every step of the way, whether in SF or at the state level, The Gav has a perfect record of making every problem WORSE during his tenure in office. Whether you’re talking about homelessness, crime, drug abuse, education, taxes, business climate, unemployment, housing, budgets, everything... the man is a DESTROYER.
There’s not a single thing that Gav can point to as a success... nothing... zilch... other than perhaps being one the Democrat party’s leading anti-Trump trolls. Is that enough? Really? I don’t know how you run a presidential campaign on that basis. The dirty little secret is that Gav is a weaker candidate than Kamala Harris... because he owns the problems of SF and CA in ways that she as the non-chief executive really didn’t.
Hasn’t she lost most of her power? She can hardly form a sentence.
