Taoiseach Leo Vardakar has said he believes Israel has become “blinded by rage” and that he is not sure if the country is listening to anyone in the world, including the US.
Speaking during Leaders Questions, Mr. Varadkar told the Dáil that there was a serious risk of a massacre in Rafah in southern Gaza, if a ground assault was to occur, which would be a “gross violation of international law on top of all of the other violations of international law which Israel is responsible for”.
Mr. Varadkar said he believed a ceasefire proposal, negotiated by Egypt, Qatar and the US, should be accepted by both Israel and Hamas.
It followed questions by Labour leader Ivana Bacik, who called for the EU-Israel trade association agreement to be terminated. […]
Also speaking in the Dáil, Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald said the Israeli ambassador has been “justifying genocide on RTÉ” and should be “sent packing”.
The Taoiseach responded that “it’s not the practice of the Government to expel ambassadors”.
Mr. Varadkar said that he needs to be able to discuss the well-being of Irish citizens and troops with Israel. …

The Germans supplied rifles ands military supplies to the Irish during WWI to eventually kick out the English in the uprising. I don’t know if it was a payback not to get involved in WW2 or they felt no need to help the English against the Germans in the second round either. I suppose there’s history as to why, somewhere written and explained. Also, there were always Irish drafted into the British Army thru history....primarily for fodder. After all, they were Irish, and therefore, expendable.
They themselves don’t define their peoplehood by “European”, but by their national identities. The term “European” was invented by the leftist European Union.

The notion of a united Europe under German rule is far older than the European Union, of course. Kaiser Wilhelm before and during WWI talked of “a United States of Europe against America”.

Out in the European colonies, in various ways, foreign Europeans were normally recognized as non-natives and treated with special consideration, as people “like us”. This sort of privilege was usually extended to “white” mercantile non-Euros, like Armenians, Syrians, Parsis, and Sephardic Jews.
