Rylie Jouett from Austin has gone viral on TikTok for claiming a man she ghosted six years ago was due to interview her for a barista position at an undisclosed company.
“Karma is the nastiest b****h I ever met bc 6 years ago when I was 19 I ghosted the nicest guy who had the best intentions for me & tell me why he’s the person that’s interviewing me for a job that I desperately need tomorrow,” the 25-year-old wrote in the clip, which has served over 8.4 million views since it was posted last week.
Jouett told The Post she didn’t expect to receive so many views — or so much backlash, which she attributes to the six-second clip “landing in front of the wrong audience on TikTok. Based on the analytics of my video, 80% of the viewers were teenagers.”

For those who don’t know, “ghosting” means you didn’t get a job after interviewing and the employer didn’t take the time to tell you that. Like millions of people in this country every week.
She “desperately” needs a job schlepping coffee. Pathetic.
I thought ghosting was - you stop replying to texts and calls for no reason. Basically saying “no” without saying no and leaving the interested-in-dating party hanging.
Guess I’ve been doing it wrong, LOL.
Thats not what it means in this context. She was dating or went on a date with a guy, and then just “ghosted” him. Disappeared. At least she admits what she did wrong.
Based just on the eyes, she did him a favor.
This chick is a 15 watt bulb in a 150 watt box. Dude dodged a bullet
Yes thanks for that. Sometimes I forget what these current slang terms mean.
I looked up the wiki meaning which has a more generalized version of what you said.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghosting_(behavior)
The other meaning of “ghosting“ is when a date or a girlfriend or boyfriend breaks the relationship off without explaining what’s going on. That is what she did to him.
There are several different versions of ‘ghosting,’ which in this case was she simply did not want to see the man socially.
It’s the equivalent of letting all the calls go to the old-fashioned phone recorder and never calling back.
Personally, though I am many decades out of the dating scene - thankfully - I would prefer to be socially ghosted than catfished. Yuck.
It’s truly a weirder world, these days.
When she mentioned a job interview, I was thinking in the context of employment.
“Ghosting” is ignoring someone.
You don’t do social media much, apparently, and good for you!
LOL! And here I thought “Ghosted” was to put them in the ground.
The things that make for entertainment these days . . . I don’t know. This seems so ordinary.
That “ghosting” sounds more like they dated once or twice and she cut off all contact without explanation.
It looks like she has some mustard on her face. need to clean that up before job hunting.
OK. Now think about what you said, stir in a little job angst and sarcasm and read post #2 again.
That’s not awkward or anything. 😏
One’s an unemployed barista. The other one is a barista supervisor. Not much improvement over a 6 year span on either part.
Now he can hire her and experience a #metoo moment.....
