•Actress Amber Heard has appealed the $10million award she was ordered to pay ex-husband Johnny Depp following a defamation trial held earlier this year •Heard's attorneys argued in a 68-page filing that significant evidence was excluded and that the trial was held in the wrong state •The trial was held in Fairfax, Virginia, because that is where The Washington Post website houses its servers •Depp sued Heard in 2019 for $50million over a Washington Post op-ed written under Heard's name in which he was accused of domestic abuse •Depp's attorneys have also filed an appeal of the $2million he was ordered to pay Heard for a single count of defamation of which he was found guilty
'This case also should never have gone to trial because another court had already concluded that Depp abused Heard on multiple occasions,' wrote Heard's lawyers, referring to the United Kingdom High Court of Justice's ruling in a separate defamation suit

I’m hesitant to comment on celebrity stuff, but I’m pretty sure one of the big takeaways of that trial was that she pooped in his bed. Not by accident, not as a result of some wild night of substance abuse or bizarre bedroom kink, she just decided to leave a dookie on his side of the bed and roll on out to Coachella for a few days. The whole trial was madness, but if you ask the average person about it, if they recall anything, it’s the bed pooping deal.
The crazy/hot matrix was not designed for this type of stress testing.
Both Amber and Johnny were capable of some bizarre and disgusting deeds in their efforts to retailiate against the other. I’ve heard about things Johnny did with or to other women, some worse than the ‘dirty linen’ situation.
Free Republic is not the appropriate forum to detail those instances. He was no prize either, because he has the conceit of a very wealthy, very popular movie star. Those kinds of people tend to surround themselves with Yes Men who won’t say one discouraging word because they would rather keep their jobs.

If she appeals, does that mean the jury’s finding against Depp goes away too?

But lawyers don’t work for free, so how is she paying for her new lawyers?
As I understand the law, claims of "no jurisdiction" must be made prior to the trial. If she made no such objection and went ahead with the trial, then she waived the claim and must now live with it.
OTOH, if she claimed "no jurisdiction" before the trail, but the judge ruled against her, then her claim is preserved and she can appeal. In which case the appeals, court will decide if she's correct.
