Thank you. Sometimes I speak my true thoughts about something and then wonder if I’m going to be tagged as an obot simply for using common sense. I’m an equal opportunity griper. People should at least not insult our intelligence and provide some evidence to support their hypotheses.
The “whole ‘nother Indonesian family” is his family. Lolo Soetoro’s family. They who lived in the royal(ish) compound in Yogyakarta. The elderly lady is Lolo’s mother, who Barry considered as like his own grandmother. So he has two step-grannies. Notice how he’s hanging onto the granny’s hand? The other children are Maya’s cousins. Maya spent a lot of time living there. Barry was frequently there, too. Those other men are probably Lolo’s brothers. He had many siblings.
They may have made it a point to say as often as possible that his command of the Indonesian language was poor because if he did naturalize over there, renouncing his US citizenship, he had to prove that he was fluent in the language.

I’m wondering about a few things, and thanks for the explanation. So the photo of the house with the fancy grated windows is that compound, or is the compound another place? That photographed house looks nice but not exactly a wealthy compound.
Also, where does the name “Soebarkah” fit in with Lolo Soetoro?
And if SAD and Lolo were married and kept house and Zero lived with them as a family unit, why are there no photos except a couple of obvious photoshop jobs? Is that because Zero was living somewhere else?
(And no wonder Zero grew up twisted. Ripped away from those who obviously had some care for him. Attachment disorder bigtime.)

That's interesting; I remember noticing when they made a point to say he couldn't speak Bahasa well that it sounded really false. Of course they want to make it seem as though he had not melded with Indonesian family and so on. I'm sure he became very fluent, he went there very young and young children easily pick up languages and can become bilingual or even trilingual pretty easily.
Maybe a Bahasa speaker could shout out something to him at a public gathering and see the reaction. heheheh
With all due respect, people are comparing photos that are supposed to be Stanley Ann to photos that Trowbridge supplied and said are Jo Ann Newman. The photos of SAD are said to be photoshopped because really, SAD, at the time, had short hair and a smaller mouth (remember the pink tooth), etc., which would tend to make her resemble that boy/girl that Trowbridge SAYS is Jo Ann Newman. But the photoshopper apparently forgot the nose. The bridge of the nose, between the eyes. As I said, Roman nose on “Newman”, not on SAD. Either they’re supposed to be the same woman or they aren’t. I can see for myself that SAD’s photos are photoshopped (some of them). But I cannot see that she did used to look just like Jo Ann before somebody changed her to look different. It’s as likely that the early photos of Ann were photoshopped to make her look a LOT less like that “model” who was filmed nekkid by FMD.
I believe the house you’re talking about is one of the homes that Lolo, Ann, and Barry shared in Jakarta. The Soetoro family compound was in another area, called Yogyakarta. Wealthy is relative, when you’re talking about a third-world country, fifty years ago. Barry was driven to school in a limousine. The family had servants, cooks, he had his own nanny (transvestite/transsexual), etc. Zero might have been living somewhere else sometimes. One would think that he had to spend a lot of time with Lolo’s mother to get that close to her. She looks fond of him, too. I look at that photo and see a kid starved for motherly attention. He’s her step-grandson (according to the story) but he’s hanging on her. (She seems like a sweet lady.) Her own biological grandchildren aren’t as affectionate, at least in the photos. Ann did her “anthropology” work and Lolo was probably absent, too, given his line of work. They had servants to care for the kids, but some of the news stories state that they dumped the kids on Lolo’s mom a lot. The stories also say that Ann and Lolo separated and one of those houses was a house that he bought for her and the kids, while he lived elsewhere.
I forgot about Soebarkah. I can’t answer that. It’s not a surname in the sense that we have them. Lolo’s surname is not Soetoro. That’s his first name. Some of the names of his siblings are Soegijo, Soegito, Soemitro, Soewarti, Soewardinah.
The surname, if there is one, is Martodijardjo (variations on that spelling exist: Mangunharjo or Mangundikardjo, for example). Many Indonesians went by one name, especially back then. Barry’s Indonesian name could have become Soebarkah.
There are many people named Soetoro who aren’t related to Lolo. It’s possible that there is a Soebarkah family that are related to this issue, but others have conjectured that Soebarkah was a name Lolo chose for Barry when he was adopted and became Indonesian. Son of Soetoro or perhaps some combination of Soe for Soetoro and Barkah for “Barry”. It’s curious enough that it appears on SAD’s passport. I’d love to hear Lester Kinsolving of WND ask Carney at a WH press conference, “Who is Soebarkah?”

Yes, I have read that many Indonesians use only one name. So it is likely that Soebarkah was Zero’s given name. Thanks for the other details.

What we see of the Indonesian story only touches the surface, scans of Lolo’s passport photographs indicate the man on the couch is someone else.
The real Lolo Soetoro had a thick moustache and wore glasses, thus the need to create the ‘family’ on the couch. It’s starting to look like we aren’t supposed to know who the man in Indonesia was.
Get it? The student in Hawaii was probably Lolo, but it’s not the same man...so something’s up...

Yes, the multiple Lolos... I wonder why they used different men in the photos as “Lolo”. Would it been or have been harmful to the real Lolo if people knew who he was? Or harmful in some way to Zero?
