Simply because a song has not been heard before doesn’t make it fresh. Melinda sang it well, but it still had the same 1940-50ish sound. Melnda’s style is not contemporary. This isn’t bad, merely not something that works in the 2007 pop music scene. Wanting her to do something contemporary is not a criticism, but the opposite. I want to see her stretch her gifts. I expect more from her because she is good.
I like her adorable fresh self and style just the way she is.
Her singing makes me happy. “;^)
JTTW has some “money” notes, as most songs do, but it isn’t a power ballad. LaKisha has a good voice, but her style is not subtle. So she missed the pleading quality of the song.
I still think she did better than the judges gave her credit for. At least she felt the song which is more than can be said for some. Singing the notes but not feeling the song doesn’t make an idol either.
I know - hopefully next week she will be the BOTTOM one...and yes, I’m more excited about DWTS then AI this year...I just can’t get into any of these kids....but I wouldn’t miss the weekly thread - have too much fun with all you guys...

I don’t like his singing but I can’t imagine being so rude as to boo him. That’s a little on the classless side. You have to admire him taking that with a smile.
