Town: Pot Paintings on House Not Illegal

WINSTED, Conn. - Having marijuana in your house is illegal, but having marijuana images on your house is not, according to town officials.

Five months after Christopher Seekins was arrested and charged with cultivating marijuana in his home, neighbors have complained about the giant marijuana leaves he has spray-painted on the outside of his home on High Street.

"There's no reason anybody should have a problem with it," Seekins said Wednesday.

Town officials said the marijuana paintings apparently do not conflict with local laws.

"There's nothing in the property maintenance code that deals with writing on your house," Joe Beadle, chief code enforcement officer, said.

Seekins says the large leaves are in support of the cause of the legalization of marijuana. He believes firmly in the usefulness of hemp, the coarse fiber of the cannabis plant, from textiles to paper products.

"People have the wrong impression about it," Seekins said.

In October, police said they found 100 plants inside Seekins' house, along with grow lights, fertilizers and portable heaters.

Police charged Seekins, 26, with cultivating marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Free on $10,000 bond, his court case is pending.

I hope that he's not going to try to draw parallels between a pot mural and an exposed penis a few feet from a teenage girl in a public setting.

But in reality, that is EXACTLY what I hope he's going to do!

Stupid yes, threatening no.It's like these kids that ride around with clever stickers on thier cars like bong,high,420,still not sure how that became a synonym for Marijuana, and of course AZHIAZIAM which means literally "as high as I am".Then they get mad when the police pull them over, search their car, find their stash and arrest them DUH The stupidest yet though is the "bad cop no donut", might as well say "I'm not paying enough for insurance please give me a ticket."

Basically you're saying that a person who is breaching the peace and engaging in offensive and passive-agressive behavior

I reject your characterization of his behavior. Painting marijuana leaves on your own house does not breach the peace and is not passive-aggressive.

Your post breached the peace...and since it doesn't answer your question without explicitly refusing to do so, this post is passive-aggressive.

"This guy is so-ooooo cool!"

He's an idiot. He's pretty much throwing his chances of getting a good deal from prosecutors or a light sentence from the judge out the window and he's virtually ensuring that police in his town are going to ride him hard as long as he lives there.

"you're saying that a person who is breaching the peace and engaging in offensive and passive-agressive behavior...should be allowed to engage in that activity".

Where does the article say anyone engaged in breaching the peace? Where does any post say that a person breaching the peace "should be allowed to engage in that activity"?

Show me. Show all of us.

You are the most delusional character on FR. Have you ever been hospitalized for psychiatric disorders?

He is just playing games.

"Why does anybody bother to reply to robertpaulsen"?

I've told him several times to crawl back under his rock and leave the rest of us alone, but he doesn't listen.

I'm confident that the libertarians on this forum will condemn his action and call for the full coercive force of the state to put a stop to this

LOL!
Use force to stop his 1st amendment right?

We don't have time for that.

We're too busy looking at child porn and plotting the overthrow of the government.

Priorities man, priorities!

Try striking up a conversation with a flesh and blood female.

He's more accustomed to the picture and video females online, if you know what I mean.

"You'd be surprised at how women are attracted to men who revere freedom, liberty, the Second Amendment and who aren't trying to play nanny to other people and takes care of his own business."

What's happens after you tell them you're a libertarian?

"... few feet from a teenage girl"

This makes the 3rd or 4th time you've mentioned the fact that the individual was a teenage girl. Is this important to your argument? Are you saying that you would feel differently about the incident if it involved a middle-aged woman?

The exceptionally attractive woman at the party last night was quite impressed. Yes, I'm serious.
