The care packages for soldiers based near Kandahar will be mailed by the end of next week in order to reach them by 9/11. It would be nice to put thank you notes and letters to our soldiers from as many people as possible in the boxes. Our efforts to let our soldiers know that they are still deeply appreciated could really help their morale right now.
I have about 50 sheets of paper with American flag background that I can print letters or notes on. You can either post your note on this thread or FReepmail your letter to me privately. It is nice for the soldiers if you can include at least your first name(s) and the city and State where you live. Full names and street addresses and email addresses are optional.
Alternatively, current members of Merry Band of Patriots can send a letter personally written by you to "any soldier" and either mail it to my address (if you can get it in the mail by this Saturday, August 7, so it will reach me in time) or mail directly to our contact's APO. In either case, please check with me for the appropriate address.
I will be mailing more DVD movies and TV series sets in the 9/11 care packages and including this time microwave popcorn and Little Debbie chocolate brownies. Anyone who wishes to send a care package with microwave popcorn or commercially packaged brownies, please contact me for information on how to do that.
Information on packing care packages is at posts 25-28 of our current thread, and information on filling out the new customs forms is at post 497.
Our current thread is the source URL listed. I've forgotten how to link, :-(
Donations are also useful so I can send more goodies, but currently they are not tax deductible. I will be contacting a lawyer this month in regard to applying for nonprofit status for us. I finally have the $750 and the time to do that.
PING to Merry Band of Patriots.
Please write a thank you note or letter for our soldiers at Kandahar and lasso a couple friends or neighbors to do the same.
Cheers!
Patty
BUMP for all you do!!
I need a new connection for sending items to troops. I was sending computers, DVD players and DVDs through the Chaplain’s office at Camp Pendleton, but have lost my connection. Help?

I thought about that a few years ago when I dropped a couple of hundred just on postage, but I figured the US Army isn't a charitable foundation. My finances are still hurting from the economy - customers delaying payment has delayed the annual bonuses till after Christmas, and that's what I used to use to buy stuff for Afghanistan. Freepmail me your address and I will get a couple of letters off to you by Saturday, though.
