Jon completed Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB, Texas, and then entered the Security Police Academy at that same base, graduating in November 1980. His first assignment was the 86th Security Police Squadron, Ramstein AB, Germany. He served as Fire Team and Alert Response Team Leader, Entry Controller, and Flight training monitor. His second assignment in December 1983 took him to the 44th Security Police Squadron, at Ellsworth AFB, SD. Here, he served as Fire Team and Alert Response Team Leader. In May of 1985, he retrained into the Education and Training career field and entered his third duty assignment as Squadron Training Manager for the 28th Bombardment wing staff at Ellsworth AFB. During this assignment he oversaw all enlisted training programs for both the Field Maintenance and Munitions Maintenance Squadrons simultaneously. His fourth duty assignment brought him to the NATO E-3A Component Training Centre, NATO Airbase Geilenkirchen, Germany in May of 1987. During this tenure he was the sole overseer of training funding, processes, and guidance on an annual budgetary program of over 9 million dollars. His fifth assignment was at Lowry AFB, CO in May of 1991, he volunteered for Special Duty assignment as Student Training Advisor for the 3460th Technical Training Squadron. He performed duties as Airman Leadership Program manager, supply manager, and cost center manager. His sixth assignment, in October 1993, was to the United States Air Force Academy as Command Medical Training Manager for the 10th Medical Group. During this assignment, he oversaw a myriad of training actions as Phase II Medical Training Program Administrator, and Unit Training Manager for all enlisted and officer training programs in four squadrons. His seventh assignment was as a volunteer to Detachment 1, 609th Air Postal Flight, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. At this location he performed duties as Operating Location Chief, overseeing one permanent and two deployed Air Post Offices, as well as postal War Readiness Materiel coordination throughout South West Asia. Lastly, in September 1998, he relocated to Eielson Air Force Base Alaska to become the installation functional manager for all education and training personnel and programs. He retired from the military in September 2005.
Jon was a distinguished graduate of the 15th Air Force Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School in October 1986. He successfully completed the United States Air Forces in Europe Command Noncommissioned Officer Academy in October 1990 and the Air University Command Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy correspondence course in June 1994. He completed his Masters Degree in Management in 2005, and a Baccalaureate Degree in Occupational Education in 2004. He has completed two Community College of the Air Force Associate degrees, one in Security Administration in February 1991 and the other in Educational and Instructional Technology in July 1991, as well as an Associate in Arts, General Studies from the University of Maryland in August 1991.
Jon is married to the former Monica Lariscey of Grenada Hills, CA, and has three daughters, Jessica, Jacqueline, and Jillian, and two sons, Joshua and Jedidiah.
Jon has received numerous awards during his career; Recognized as Air Force outstanding performer seven times, he won first place at the 1983 Joint Nations Military Patrol (NATO), he received a letter of commendation from the Senior National Representative for Italian Air Forces at NAB Geilenkirchen in July 1988, He was also recognized as NCO of the Quarter for Oct-Dec 88, Senior Student Training Advisor of the quarter for Oct-Dec 1991, Military Training Manager of the Quarter for Apr-Jun of 1992, NCO of the quarter for April-June 1993, and Command Senior Enlisted Training Manager of the year for the United States Air Force Academy for 1996, and Senior NCO of the year for the 354th Logistics Support Squadron for 2000 and 2001, and PACAF Logistics Professional of the year for 2000, He received the 1999, 2000, and 2001 Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award, 1999 and 2001 PACAF Outstanding Support Professional award, 2001 Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, 2002 Secretary of Defense Maintenance Award, 2003 Training Manager of the Year for Pacific Air Forces, and 2004 Training Office of the Year for Pacific Air Forces. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Outstanding Unit Award with one device, and the Organizational excellence Award.
