A little about me. This is my second account with Free Republic. I first came to Free Republic in 1999 from the old Fox News Political Forum (Delphi). I am not particularly witty or profoundly insightful. I value civility and abhor arrogance and elitism. I value the common virtues and try to practice them in my daily life. My username loosely means "hunting rifle" in German. I adopted this username to represent my love of the outdoors, hunting, shooting and the fine rifle left to me by my German grandfather. I staunchly hold to the tenets of Classical Liberalism (This is not in any relation to modern American social liberalism) and an I am an inexorable constitutionalist. This is especially true when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. I now call Southern California (San Diego County) my home residing in Duncan Hunter's district....specifically the "back country" of East County.

I'm a happily married Christian man and father of two wonderful, conservative kids who are now out on their own. I am the son of a proud Kansas farmer and Korean War veteran. I have a very large family of German heritage (both maternal and paternal). I'm an avid firearms enthusiast (actually...a gun nut) and an amateur banjo picker. I am an independent, significantly right of center, traditionalist minded American Conservative and ardent patriot. My father and grandfather taught me how to shoot, hunt, fish, ride, rope, survive in the wild and hold my own in a bare-knuckle fist fight. More important, I was raised to appreciate the virtues of hard work, tradition, charity, decency, honesty and good manners. I have worked in various Western states on farms, ranches, dairies, feedlots and done all kinds of work from driving trucks to enforcing the law as a deputy sheriff.
