Love FR. Became a member during RatherGate when I kept hearing FR being talked about on Scarborough Country. If anyone remembers that :D Will never forget Howard Fineman admitting to blogging in his pajamas!

About me: College student in TX, studying music and business, who likes to sing jazz, soul, and play saxophone and piano. ;)

Holder of long inactive Scarborough Country Ping List
Still love my "Morning Joe" though ;)

If you've never read his book, pick it up sometime! It's called Rome Wasn't Burnt in a Day.

Joe Scarborough was a real fighter in Congress back in the day (FL-1, 1994-2001), and has long railed about the problem of our serious national debt, a problem that has become more troublesome over the last 8 years, under (mostly) a Republican Congress and President no less.

Why his book is an important read:

In 1994, the mighty Newt Gingrich led a group of political neophytes with high ideals and big plans to Congrassional victory, though this wagon train of trailblazers that stormed the gates of the Imperial Congress soon found its way into the ditch. Why? As Scarborough superbly describes, Congressmen will go to shocking lengths to save their political behinds, soon selling out their votes, packing pork for their home districts onto otherwise useful bills, and a host of other sins against taxpayers. The 9/11 Emergency Bill, bamn...Joe gives you the straight up truth on the shamelessness exhibited there, while the towers were still burning...

As one of a small group of mavericks that did their level best to fight the system, the perspective he shares is a unique one as he takes you behind those closed doors in the mid-90s to show you some of what really went on. And he has fun telling it too!

Also highly recommended reading: A Breach of Trust by good old Tom Coburn!
