Philosophy

We believe that church and state should be separate, but that religion should remain at the center of life.  We are a Judeo-Christian culture, which means we consider those ten things on a tablet to be commandments, not suggestions. We believe that individuals are more important than groups, that families are more important than governments, that children should be raised by their parents rather than by the State, and that marriage should take place only between a man and a woman.  We believe that rights must be balanced by responsibilities, that personal freedom is a privilege we must be careful not to abuse, and that the rule of law cannot be set aside when it becomes inconvenient.  We believe in economic liberty, and in the right of purposeful and industrious entrepreneurs to run their businesses – and thus create jobs – with a minimum of government interference.  We recognize that other people see things differently, and we are tolerant of their views.  But we believe that our country is worth defending, and if anyone decides that killing us is an okay thing to do we will go after them with everything we’ve got. If these beliefs seem strange to you, they shouldn’t.  For these are precisely the beliefs that powered Western Europe – you -- from the Middle Ages into the Renaissance, on to the Enlightenment, and forward into the modern world.  They are the beliefs that made Europe itself the glory of Western civilization and – not coincidentally – ignited the greatest outpouring of art, literature, music and scientific discovery the world has ever known including Michaelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Shakespeare, Bach, Issac Newton and Descartes.Herbert E. Meyer

We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place you want to be and if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man. We have all seen this when we do arithmetic. When I have started a sum the wrong way, the sooner I admit this and go back and start over again, the faster I shall get on. There is nothing progressive about being pigheaded and refusing to admit a mistake. And I think if you look at the present state of the world, it is pretty plain that humanity has been making some big mistakes. We are on the wrong road. And if that is so, we must go back. Going back is the quickest way on.
-- C. S. Lewis,
Mere Christianity

It is true that the tradition of Judeo-Christian religion is strongly coupled with philosophical optimism. Hope is high on the list of virtues. God did not put us here on earth to moan and groan. As my mother used to say, "God helps those who help themselves".— Dr. Freeman Dyson, "The Scientist as Rebel"

Conservatism is rooted in the idea that God is supreme, and that duty to God, nation, and fellowman is the ultimate good. For the conservative, man is free only when he acts in accordance with the Natural Law, and the role of the state is to "bear the sword" on behalf of the ultimate Authority (God) and thus to protect human life, human dignity, human culture, and the common weal.

Liberalism is rooted in the idea that man is his own god, is perfectible through reason alone, and that unlimited individual liberty is the ultimate good. To the liberal the role of the state is to define and defend the Rights of Man (liberty, equality, and fraternity) and to promote a "new order of the ages" in which men will become gods.

Both U.S. political parties are dedicated to the ideals of liberalism, and are therefore in reality both liberal parties. The GOP represents the right-liberal (big business) position on the political spectrum; the Democrats represent the left-liberal (big government) wing. But both parties are dedicated to the worship of the god Reason and the goddess Liberty.

If there were a true conservative party in the U.S. today, abortion would be illegal, there would be no personal income tax, the borders would be fortified and defended, the interests of family businesses and entrepreneurs would be promoted and protected over the interests of big businesses, and foreign trade would be managed and regulated to produce revenue and to ensure the strength and staying power of the nation's vital industries. Under the rule of the liberals of both parties, abortion wil remain legal. Incomes will still be taxed at exorbitant rates. The borders will remain porous. Corporate capitalism will be promoted at the expense of family business and entrepreneurship. America will not be self-sufficient.

In the final analysis, it matters little which party wins a given election. The left-liberals will run the country into the ground just like the right-liberals will -- only more quickly. No matter which party wins, sooner or later the whole house of cards comes down. Only then, when all masks are dropped and people are revealed as they really are, will we see the advent of a truly conservative party in America.

Until then, real conservatives should concern themselves less with politics and more with prayer, education, and family. The false dawn of the "enlightenment" can't last forever. Someday the true Sun will rise and conquer, driving the night before it. The goal of true conservatives is to stay strong and survive until mankind's long experiment in self-deification comes to its inevitable end.

Religion

The Roman Catholic Church makes its final stand at the end of time as Jesus Christ tosses Satan, et al., into an eternal pit of fire. That was guaranteed by Jesus Christ at the outset. If either... the Catholic Church or the USA is no longer in existence at that time, it will be the United States that is gone like the Roman Empire, the Soviet Empire, the Third Reich and so many other persecuting governments or like the Papal States or the Republic of Venice or independent Scotland or so many other non-persecuting governments.The Roman Catholic Church is here to stay. We have shoveled twenty centuries of dirt upon the graves of our opponents. - – BlackElk

Economics

“If I chose to make an investment for my kids, that's my business. I worked for every... penny and when somebody comes who hasn't worked and wants to take what's yours, it pisses me off big time."--Ozzy Osbourne, 24 November 2004
Our Lord taught that man does not exist by bread alone -- that is, by the sole parameter of material wealth. Having material wealth, even if earned through work, does not bring about human happiness. Unchecked materialism, despite its seeming cornucopia of material benefits, actually reduces man and nature to the status of resources, stripping both of all intrinsic value. This contradicts the natural order as it applies to Creation and to man -- both the fundamental nature of man and his dignity as a human person.

Therefore, it is my view that neither Marxian communism nor laissez-faire capitalism nor any economic system based solely upon materialism can form the basis of a truly good society.

A good society cannot be centered on any abstract economic principle. Where the lives of human beings are involved, life and death must must be more than a simple calculus of supply and demand. As with Marxian socialism, free-market capitalism is too simplistic in that it reduces all human relations to a basis of economics, and in so doing does not reflect the true nature of man as a person -- a being of Divine origin and intrinsic value regardless of his or her economic potential, and a being that cannot exist except as an integral part of a community of persons.

By reducing the natural world to a mere pool of resources, materialist economics separates man from nature, encouraging men to rape, ruin, and destroy the natural world instead of conserving it as good stewards. By turning human beings into human resources, capitalism and communism separate man from his special status as a being unique, sacred, and created in the Image of God.

Aristotle teaches us that man is a social animal. Human beings cannot exist outside of the context of human community. However, in a system of unrestrained economic competition, every man becomes a competitor of every other man in a struggle to survive, and the vital social character of human life is destroyed. The practice of work for wages -- under both capitalism and communism -- alienates him from his own labor.

For these and other reasons, purely capitalist economic approaches are doomed to fail in the long run; as with socialism, capitalism's materialistic and utilitarian bases are a foundation of sand. Only those social and economic systems founded upon the Rock of a genuinely Judeo-Christian culture and family-centered social and economic order can truthfully be called moral and viable over the long term.

NATIONALIST ECONOMICS: WHY "EVERYDAY LOW PRICES" ARE BAD FOR AMERICA

Q. Why pay more for goods made domestically?
A. National security.

1. History demonstrates that any nation with a weak manufacturing base is at the mercy of those with stronger manufacturing bases should war come.

2. War always comes.

3. Therefore, in order to avoid being at the mercy of other nations, the United States should maintain a strong manufacturing base, by whatever means are necessary.

Politics

[The conservative supports] the necessity of religion, the wisdom of tradition, the authority of the family, the advantages of legitimate monarchy, and the constant need to maintain political, moral, and economic dikes against the ever-swelling sea of popular ignorance, cupidity, violence, barbarism, and fertility. — Will and Ariel Durant
I believe in God, the sanctity of human life, and in the values and ideals of Western, Christian civilization, of which Tradition, Family and private Property are the bedrock.

I am an American patriot. The United States is my homeland, and I support her Constitution and laws. I believe that all citizens owe their nation a debt of service, up to and including military service.

I am neither a paleoconservative, nor a neoconservative, nor an evangelical conservative, nor a libertarian; I am a Catholic traditional conservative and a Christian monarchist. I believe that a sacramental monarchy is the best and most Christian system of government. While I do not advocate monarchy for the United States, I support all authentically and expressly Christian monarchies in the world.

I am not a member of any political party or organization. I vote for the person and the policy, not the party line. It is obvious to me that where the Big Issues are concerned there is no functional difference between the Democrat and Republican parties. No matter which party's candidate is elected President or to any other office, the United States government will continue to grow in size and power, abortion will remain legal, there will be no end to the federal income tax, and the false "wall of separation" between church and state will be maintained.

This is why I am not a Republican or a Democrat, and why I will from henceforth vote for the candidate best suited to hold a given office, the candidate who I deem most in line with true and traditional conservative values, no matter how "fringe" or "third party" he or she may be considered. And if that means I'm "wasting my vote" and the Democrat wins in a given election, so be it. After all, what's the difference? No matter which party wins, we get the same liberalism either way.

Social Issues

“It isn't going to bed with a man that proves that you love him. It's getting up in the morning and facing the drab, miserable, wonderful everyday world that counts.”
- CWO Frank Beardsley (Henry Fonda),
Yours, Mine and Ours (1968)

"We have room but for one flag... We have room but for one language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty, and that is the loyalty to the American people." - President Theodore Roosevelt

It is deplorable and a sign of sickness in our society that the lunatic fringes of the black and white communities speak with wide publicity while we, the moderates, remain continuously mute. I cannot believe that the only alternative to white racism is black racism [ ... ] I publicly repudiate, condemn and reject all white racists. I call upon you [the black leaders of Baltimore] to publicly repudiate, condemn and reject all black racists. This, so far, you have not been willing to do [ ... ] Somewhere the objectives of the civil rights movement have been obscured in a surge of emotional oversimplification. Somewhere the goal of equal opportunity has been replaced by the goal of instantaneous economic equality. This country does not guarantee that every man will be successful but only that he will have an equal opportunity to achieve success. I readily admit that this equal opportunity has not always been present for Negroes — that it is still not totally present for Negroes. But I say that we have come a long way. And I say that the road we have trodden is built with the sweat of the Roy Wilkinses and the Whitney Youngs — with the spiritual leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King — and not with violence."
— Spiro T. Agnew, Governor of the State of Maryland, 11 April 1968

• a peerless United States military;
• the War on Islamic Fascism;
• those who sacrificed of themselves defending the West during World War III, the so-called Cold War against communism;
• and all other human endeavors that glorify God and promote the welfare of the human race, Western civilization, and the individual human person.

I oppose
• atheism, humanism, and materialism;
• egalitarianism, sexual or otherwise;
• atomistic libertarianism, democracy, and popular government in general;

• pacifism;
• communism, socialism, and anarchism;
• laissez-faire capitalism, libertarianism, and monopolism;
• the normalization of sexual perversion;
• obscenity, pornography, and carnography;
• divorce and remarriage;
• and all other human endeavors that deny, ignore, or oppose God and His natural law, that damage, denigrate, or demean the human race, Western civilization, or the individual human person.

Whats it all about, Alfie?
Is it just for the moment we live?
Whats it all about
when you sort it out, Alfie?
Are we meant to take more than we give
Or are we meant to be kind?
And if only fools are kind, Alfie,
Then I guess its wise to be cruel.

And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie,
What will you lend on an old golden rule?

As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, Alfie,
I know there's something much more,
Something even non-believers can believe in.

I believe in love, Alfie.
Without true love we just exist,
Alfie.
Until you find the love you've missed
You're nothing, Alfie.

When you walk
let your heart lead the way
And you'll find love any day,
Alfie, Alfie.
